2026 Gravity GT
Anyone have experience auto crossing a Gravity? Im getting more comfortable with the size and want to check out the tossability of this great car. I have heard that they do great when pushed and are very predictable at 9/10ths driving. I just dont want to do that on a public road. Im sure the tires will take a beating but Im curious how it compares to other sport sedans. Otherwise the car has been an absolutely great car for road trips. Fast charging, long range, full charging to 100% at Tesla chargers without the time penalty, and just real comfortable and quiet. I do wish it had a true "satellite" nav and entertainment system. When in rural areas and there is no cell reception so no Sirius, and no Nav. Tempted to bring out the old Garmin but there is no place to plug it in. But this is true of all cars now.

I am tempted to experiment in an obscure empty parking lot on a late Sunday afternoon one day:)

You can download offline maps to the navigation (see nav settings), and manually switch to offline nav mode when in an area without cell reception.
Don't forget to switch back to online mode when online again.

Auto-crossing a 3 ton vehicle? Maybe a Hummer H1. Or something else with less sensors / cameras / luxury features / and weight? Seems like you'd need deep reserve funds and a waiver from your insurance company before trying that stuff with a Gravity?

Nelslens, auto cross is parking lot cone course that is timed. It really is not that hard on the car except tires.

yes I guess I can do that. But the "satellite" music interruptions I will just need to live with.

Hi GG,
I just picked mine up 3 days ago! I had an AirGT before this, knowing I would trade it in for an SUV when they released one. I'm liking it already. Love that I don't have to worry about hitting the parking bumpers anymore! And yes - I think it may be quieter than my Air GT!! Lots of nice little improvements in it too. Enjoy!

Seems a little silly tbh.
Learning the limits of a car in a safe setting does not seem silly to me. I have been doing this with almost every car I have owned. I skipped it with my Tesla Y because I was told it was no fun because of all the nanny systems that could not be dialed down. I guess I would have still learned the limits on the Y.

Autocross is timed; racing against yourself is more the issue. Unless they have a 6,000 pound SUV class, in which I'm sure you would do quite well.

I don't believe there is anything silly about honing driving skills. I just spent 3 days of intensive instruction in a Radical SR3 XXR. Nearly everything I learned outside of finding the racing line and proper passing technique is applicable to driving a street car. Obstacle avoidance, handing under max braking and understanding your own car's handling are lessons that can potentially be the difference of life and death on public roads.

What tire are you on? I’m silly enough to drag race mine

About 15 years ago, last time I did any autocrossing, there was a guy who autocrossed his BMW X5M. If I remember correctly, it was his tow vehicle for his track car. Actually, I think it was the wife that ran the X5M.
