Hi all,
I'm trying to lease a LUCID from the Tyson's Corner dealership in VA and will be registering the car in DC (where I live). I finally received my itemized breakdown of my lease payments and they are charging me a 10.25% monthly tax on the base monthly lease payment when it should be only 2% as DC has a reduced excise tax on new EV's. I brought this up with the sales team and the explanation I received is that the upfront delivery payment factors a decreased sales tax from DC but that it is higher during the monthly payments. Logically, this doesn't make any sense to me since I don't see any sales tax calculations factored into the delivery upfront payment and at the end of day, I'm still paying 10.25% a month when I shouldn't be. Has anyone in DC encountered this? I'm stressed since my pickup is scheduled today and need to pickup the vehicle by the end of the month (today).
