After watching this, i feel this is everything what Lucid is saying from the day of introduction of Air, except that they are unable to deliver it yet or cant deliver it ….
Everything that Rivian said has it in all our vehicles except the talent or guts that Lucid didnt work on. Great Vision but wasted opportunity. I really wish Lucid stop talking and delivering from 2026. May be this should be there New Year resolution.

 
When both companies launched production at the same time It’s certainly disappointing to see Rivian forge ahead so fast while Lucid just can’t seem to get a handle on its software woes and delivering of features promised in a timely manner.

For now though, it’s just words from Rivian. I don’t know where they’re going to get all the cash for this. They’ll need a significant chunk to start production of R2 and bringing more and more in house on the autotomy side will be a huge investment also.

Although, Gen 2 R1 is getting universal hands off, expanding from 150,000 miles of roads to over 3.5 million miles of roads in a matter of weeks. Yet, in Gravity we can’t even get hands off.
 
well, Rivian is also demoing today autonomous stuff they are working on, on existing Gen 2 hardware. The Gravity has a better suite of sensors right now is my understanding. But Lucid has shown nothing like this that i know of.

In its hey days. the Maxima was a force to be reckoned with, for car enthusiasts not wanting to spend the big bucks for German wheels.

Sad really. My wife still drives a G37 coupe and I always had a fondness for the FX series.
 
Others beat me to the punch, but yeah, Rivian is still not as far along as Lucid is with actually shipped hardware and software at this point.

I was impressed with their presentation, however. It was refreshing to see an actual plan outlined so clearly. A true roadmap. With some impressive hardware and software to back it up.

Whether or not they make their proposed timeline is another story. But I think their conservative approach to mapping all this out before promising anything is a good thing.

I wish them well. And I think they stand a good chance of lapping Tesla on this in a matter of a year or two if their AI is as good as they think it is.
 
So I will agree with the OP only in that I would love to see Lucid communicate their roadmap this effectively. That would be super welcome.
 
Seems to me that Lucid would do well to steal a few pages out of the Rivian playbook. Up almost 20% today to a 12 month high just for providing some quasi-definitive information (and pricing) on where they are headed with Level 3 and 4 driving. Meanwhile, years after shelling out close to 4x their price, I'm still scratching my head as to where DDP is ultimately headed.

I had a G37S. Loved that thing. Amazing bang for the buck, excellent touchscreen tech for the time, and great performance. I was reading that supposedly they’re working to bring back a rear wheel drive coupe. I fear it will be too little too late though. Sad to see their fall from grace.
 
Just more hype, I’ll believe it when I see it. All these EV companies going Gaga over something that doesn’t exist yet. Just gives us good, reliable, efficient cars. Don’t need all this fluff!

I dunno, I wouldn't write off Lucid here. Sure, this is a flashy presentation by Rivian. But autonomous driving is hard, and even a tech powerhouse like Alphabet has had to spend billions of dollars and years of time to get to limited autonomous driving. As research in AI progresses, the hurdle to clear for building an autonomous driving system is getting a bit lower, but only a bit. Lucid is partnering with Nuro for autonomy. Nuro hasn't solved the autonomy problem either, but they are 9 years into a pretty deep multi-billion dollar investment in their attempt to do so. The partnership with Nuro could easily deliver viable autonomy to Lucid customers years before Rivian's effort pays off. Or not. Time will tell.
