I have a gravity DE. Picked it up in June, yes SW had multiple issues. Latest 3.3.20 release solves many if not most of those issues. Yet there's still so much negativity here. And its causing people to apparently hold off on getting a Gravity which is both bizarre and disappointing to me. The complaints about only getting one key fob or not yet having CarPlay are mind boggling as that info is so easily available. And some moderators here just seem to be ok with all the negativity. is it really unreasonable to expect people to 1) do a little research, or ask AI, before buying a luxury SUV and 2) have some idea of what it means to get a SW based car early in its cycle, based on ALL the previous similar examples from Tesla, BMW, Rivian, Polestar, etc??

I just don't get it.

Positive or negative, we don’t censor people on this forum.

I didn’t say anything about censorship. I am saying setting some level of “xyz complaint is reasonable” vs “xyz complain could have been addressed by 5 mins of research” would help separate real issues from FUD.

I think it is mostly okay for people to share their experiences both good and bad. I say mostly because there are times where people post the same thing over and over--both good and bad. There are always people who have terrible experiences with their new cars. Candidy, Lucid seems to more than their share of these.

But this is the crux, I think: people who have bad experiences tend to look for places to vent (and that's fine with me BTW). But a much much smaller percentage of people with great experiences will look to share that broadly with others. I mean, who ever says "man this is a fantastic product! I need to go tell people." But if your car is bricked on day two of ownership, you are definitely looking for info about your car, and you end up on a forum ready to share your bad experience.

You’ll find just as many people complaining this forum is too positive.

It’s all a matter of perspective. I think as always, the truth is somewhere in between.

Lucid has a lot of work to do to get their service and fit and finish (particularly regarding software) in order. That said, some folks do seem to blame Lucid sometimes for things that would be fixed with a thorough read of the manual, or by talking to the folks here, who mostly are happy to help with questions and solutions.

Or by not taking every little glitch to mean the sky is falling. But we’re all different. If I get an occasional minor glitch, that doesn’t take away from the driving experience to me. But for others, it’s a bigger deal.

Telling others how to feel is an exercise in futility. We officially discourage continual ranting, but I can’t say that a good deal of what gets complained about here isn’t deserved sometimes.

One thing this forum has never been, and never will be, is a monoculture. It may skew one way or another on different days, but it’ll never be a place for one particular kind of person to simply get affirmation. We don’t do that here.

I guess because people similar to my wife who have a brand new EV 2023 i4 BMW M50 (that was bought in the exact same year that I purchased my AGT2022) has had zero problems with her car. In fact, she has never even brought it back once to the dealership in the last three years because everything works perfectly. I have had only minimal problems with my 2022 AGT, but she is afraid to take it out because occasionally the screen goes black and you have to reboot it in order to drive the car. It's a minor annoyance, but the car experience for me is tolerable since the AGT is such a superb car. But my wife and many of her friends feel like her that they want a car to work. If it doesn't, she says, get rid of it and buy me one that does. I guess you don't get it because you don't have the same frame of mind. Some people do not have a problem with glitches while others do and expect better.

Apologies if I used the wrong word there. We do not set levels of reasonableness. This is an open forum and we allow what is “reasonable“ to be set by each poster. As you know, we do not allow personal attacks.

If anonymous negative content on this forum prevents you from buying an Air or a Gravity, then you don't deserve the privilege of owning these technological marvels of our time :p
I agree, if you base your purchasing decision purely by what you read in a forum then more fool you.

I guess I'm a fool, since this forum convinced me it was ok the buy the AGT.

I live at both ends of this spectrum. I am a four-year Lucid owner who currently has three Lucids: an Air Dream Performance and two Gravity Dream Editions. I am damn near addicted to the brand. And over these four years I have heaped both praise and scorn on Lucid for what they get right and what they get wrong. However, I only speak of Lucid in other venues (YouTube, Reddit, various auto journal comment sections) when I have something good to say. But this is an owner's forum, and we should be completely candid with each other here.

What Lucid gets right makes them, to my mind, the most interesting automaker on the planet right now: cutting-edge efficiency, space engineering, handling dynamics, and a near-perfect blend of retro and futuristic design done with taste that has departed the premium German brands.

But the Gravity, frankly, has been something of a mess on a scale to put the company's budding reputation at risk. Lucid brought all the good things I just listed to the Gravity, but they released the car before it was ready.

Our first Gravity left us stranded on an out-of-state trip when its rear drive unit failed. We had to drive with a towel over the HUD screen until the dashboard could be pulled out to replace the HUD unit for a distortion issue that would have been caught had Lucid bothered to look through the windshield of the car before shipment or delivery. The second-row seat had to be jury-rigged to stop its squeaking. I'm now waiting for an appointment to get the steering wheel replaced. The car was delivered with the GPS system and the navigation system not working, again something that a basic pre-delivery inspection would have caught.

For the first ten months our 2022 Air had similar software nightmares to our Gravities, but they were eventually largely fixed, as I'm sure the Gravities' will be . . . eventually.

But we had nowhere near the hardware issues with that early production Air that we have had with the Gravity. And that is something that should not have happened with a car produced four years later. And I'm going to talk about it on this forum, whether it pleases some people or not.

Far more important than what I think, though, is what is happening with car reviewers. Everyone understood teething issues with the Air, and that car racked up an impressive global array of well-deserved major awards. But everyone expected the Gravity launch to reflect a maturing operation. And that they have not seen. Consequently, the Gravity has fallen out of the running for many of the awards that a year ago most of the press was expecting it to monopolize. It didn't even make it to the finalist list for SUV of the Year by Motor Trend, a company that made the Air its 2022 Car of the Year. If foundered more recently with InsideEVs top award, again after having been expected a year ago to walk away with it. And so it has gone with most other reviewers.

So, like it or not, this forum is no more negative about the Gravity than the wider world of auto journalism. And that's the way it's going to be until Lucid gets it act together.

I'd lot rather be beating them up about the misstep they made in putting the Gravity on the market before it was ready than beating them up for doing it again with the Earth . . . because if they do it with that car, the company will have signed its death warrant.

Sick of the negative posts? No, because that's part of life.
Like them? Heck no, but again ... life.

It's a public forum and free speech, within reason, is accepted.
If I were sick of them, I just wouldn't read them, I'd skip over them once I saw the first indication of the negativity.
If they bother you that much, consider skipping them.

I love love love my Gravity; only one issue and it was resolved within a month of purchase.

The two expectations you mentioned are far from unreasonable, to me.
For some it is quite unreasonable.

For some, why do research when they can just get on here and ask someone and when their experience is different from what they were told, they can blame someone else for THERE decision instead of looking in the mirror? Some people's ego and self-esteem can't take that kind of honesty and personal accountability. Those that choose to blame others bother more than the negativity because the negativity can result in positive outcomes.

I also had a 2023 BMW iX. It spent a month in the service center while they tried to figure out why it wouldn’t fully shut off. Lots of SW issues. The refreshed 2026 iX we traded in for is very solid however. That’s what happens with cars and with SW, the bugs get worked out.

Tolerance for a laundry list of bugs tends to be less when spending $110k for a luxury car. Expectations are higher.

People seem to tolerate a lot more quality issues in much more expensive houses. Early Tesla S cars were $100k+ cars with super bad fit and finish and tons of bugs (requiring almost daily reboots). Lots of luxury cars have bugs if they are brand new models. If you aren’t willing to tolerate some bugs in return for cutting edge tech don’t be an early adopter.

Hi, welcome to the Internet - the land where everyone has a problem and has been told their opinion matters!

But seriously, I agree with you. I've been trolling forums for decades and this is pretty much how it goes when the discussion board is focused around a consumer product. Personally I try and balance any negativity I dump on here with positivity either here or elsewhere in the world. Call out good service you're on the receiving end of, walk that cart back across the parking lot etc. Find the balance.

No. If there are problems I’d rather hear about them. Same if there is praise (which I’ve also seen a lot of). You seem to get extremely frustrated because people won’t just look it up on AI. I’m not sure why you even bother with the forum in that case if it’s that easy to get the info you need.

No. For me a diversity of experience is valuable whether positive or negative.

Yes I get frustrated when someone can’t be bothered to look something up. AI just makes the looking up crazy easy, so easy a child could do it. When finding info is as easy as it is now seems like forums should for discussing things beyond just easy to find info.

I’m getting chatbot vibes…

All joking aside, you’re fighting a futile battle here. Either accept it don’t get frustrated or move on. No one is forcing you to do anything other than what you want.
