Air Roadtrip Notes

Took our Air Touring on its 3rd road trip from Ohio to VA and had a few notes to share in case they might help others:

Difficulties

• Auto preconditioning-I attempted to use the Lucid NAV for wayfinding to get to the correct chargers so that it could auto precondition. The first time I made the mistake of entering in the address, which it found, however it didn’t show in the system as an actual charging station and I didn’t double check. The second time, I looked it up on the mobile app, where it showed as a charging station, but when I sent it to the car it didn’t register within the car NAV as a charger. So far I’ve been striking out on getting this to work! My errors, I think, but not real intuitive.
• Android Auto- I use android auto on a regular basis, but almost never use the Lucid NAV. After using the Lucid NAV on the way to the destination, I could not get android auto to then connect for the return trip home. I tried everything, except the most basic option of doing a reset of the infotainment system in the car. I have a feeling this would’ve worked as it then auto fixed it itself overnight. I spent way too much time trying to troubleshoot this while driving home thinking it was a phone or car Bluetooth issue.
• Lucid NAV accuracy-this is old news but Lucid NAV directions were often not optimal or would refuse to give an alternate route when better options existed. Still not a fan but really like seeing the full map in the dash. Can’t wait for AA fullscreen mode to be released this year.
• Hands Free- still a bit twitchy when there are exits off the highway. Not terrible, but unfortunately even if this only happens one percent of the time it put you on edge anytime you’re driving past a highway exit.

Positives

• Driving - this car is fantastic on curvy roads… my favorite car that I’ve owned for sedan driving experience. Also, even without the massage seats we never got sore or tired.
• Summer Range - the range of the touring in the summer is just fine. While I’d prefer to have the grand touring range, our bathroom breaks typically have us stopping more frequently than the range of the car anyhow.
• Charging - while I never had the highest charging speeds, the car typically always charged faster than we expected and often before we finish our meal. This was our first time having to use all paid chargers, versus the free included charging. I had basic payment or handshake errors each time I plugged in, but they were resolved by me unplugging and then re-plugging each time, so not a big deal.
• Hands free driving - despite my critique above, I think hands-free is a perfect capability for long trips. I don’t want the car making its own lane changes or other full self driving type capabilities, I just wanted to have great lane centering with me not having to constantly be touching the wheel, and I think Lucid nailed this one.
• Roof shades - the Lucid glass roof shades fit great, are easy to install, and are ideal for sunny road trips. It really helps to regulate the HVAC in the car.
• ABRP integration- for the first time, I activated ABRP auto data sync subscription and actually drove the car on the highway once or twice prior to starting our road trip to calibrate the correct range estimate. This made a huge difference and made the range estimates accurate almost to the mile.

I just finished a 3000 mile roadtrip, and I’ll add that face / head detection in my 2025 AGT (sw 2.9.0) was intermittent, and the car is quite frustrating to drive when this happens. My head doesn’t move, the lighting doesn’t change, and suddenly it’s telling me to grab the wheel or it will shut off. Once, it did, turned on my hazards, and would not turn back on again for hours.

Also, passing semi trucks on the left… it often jerks / panics as it’s approaching them from behind, even though they are staying steady in their lane. This is dangerous, IMO.

Strangely, with semi trucks in the middle of a lane change, it often won’t start to slow down until they are more than halfway into the change.

I’m glad to see hands free as a feature, and when it works, it’s a really nice convenience. When it doesn’t, it’s downright maddening.

I just did a 4600mi trip. I don't have DDPro, but I decided to enable all the Drowsy Driver and Attention warnings for the drive.

I noticed that it would start out very attentive and then the longer I drove without stopping, it would get less and less likely to trigger.
