Adaptive cruise/hands free not working

This is exactly what happened to me last December. The only reason that adaptive cruise and drive assist didn't work was because the navigation system thought the car was parked in the garage, no matter where I was. Once the TCU was reset, and the nav knew when the car was on the road, it performed as expected.

Pretty disappointed that it took my local service center 6 days and close to 100 miles of test driving to resolve the issue. After finding other posts on this forum regarding TCU reset, it sounds like a 30 minute fix at most and just one highway test drive to confirm that Drive Assist was working again. All they needed to do was turn on the Lucid Nav to realize the coordinates were off. This should have been clear sign that the TCU required a reset. So lesson learned is that if your Drive Assist all of a sudden stops working, open Lucid Nav to confirm your coordinates are reporting correctly. If not, TCU reset will most likely resolve the issue.

Yup! Sounds like a restatement of Occam's razor doesn't it? It's funny how often things look so obvious in hindsight. I like to delude myself into thinking that I'm quite good at connecting the dots, but I sure as heck did not that time!

I'm struck how the TCU should be doing a periodic reboot of its own to avoid these problems in the first place... just like after an OTA update every system in the car should be rebooting itself from scratch...

Hello all.

Picked up a new 2026 Lucid AGT. Zenith Red/DD pro/Mojave leather interior/stealth package/20" wheels. Drove it long distance back home yesterday. Loved the drive. Drove the 300m commute back home with no charging needed. Got home with 20mls left on charge.. Used both the on board navigation and ABRP on Android. Both recommended no charging stops.

Have an issue though. When I was on highway could not get the adaptive cruise control and hands free to work. When I pressed the adaptive cruise control button on the steering wheel: it shows up on the display as being engaged. But the car slows down(regen was on and set at standard) like what would happen if I took my feet of the accelerator. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Will a soft or hard reset fix it? Or should I call Lucid service?

Couple of questions as well.

1. On the drive back, efficiency was around 2.7m/kWh. Thought the norm was closer to 4ish? The air temp was in the low 30s F, the car is new and I did push the car some. May have something to do with the low efficiency I guess. Was wondering if it will improve over time?
2. My previous EV was a Porsche Taycan. I could set the car to finish charging at a certain time(for example 6AM everyday when I leave for work) and precondition the cabin as well to a set temperature by 6AM. With the Lucid under the charging tab, I only see an option to set the charge start time? Is there an option to set the stop time or to precondition the cabin at a set time in the morning?

Car drives great otherwise. The delivery experience was good as well. Was a little delayed. But the person told me that they delivered 14 Gravity SUVs that day in this one location and they have 12-14 to deliver today. Must be all the year end incentives they have

Bobby reset (changing profile) didn't work. Overnight isolation from key fob did not work. Did two different types of resets at once, so I didn't know which one fixed it. Lucid logo hold (soft reset,) but probably the 3 point reset (mic button/x button only steering wheel and brake pedal depressed). Fixed everything!

Just temporary lost Adative Cruise control again yesterday, Twice. Only difference this time was that it came back with many, repeated attempts to stop/start it again while driving. I was also parked and out of the car for over an hour at one point which did not fix the issue.. This makes it the third and forth time I've lost adaptive cruise control in the last 6 months. Guess it's time to call Lucid service as it is more than a one time glitch. I almost always use Lucid navigation due to local traffic, so don't think it was the issue others reported about the car not knowing where it was (especially since this shouldn't be an issue for just Adaptive Cruise Control).

I've lost Handsfree a few times over the past week. A variety of symptoms. First clue was when I would move the turn stalk to get it to change lanes. On a couple attempts I did not get the "Lane Change Initiated" message and the car did not try to change lanes. The turn signal was on and the car was tracking perfectly in its lane but chose to ignore the lane change request. Another time it just would not allow me to engage the cruise control systems at all. At one point I got the yellow triangle at the bottom of the display, but with no indication of what was causing the caution. It went away on the next trip cycle. Eventually I got in the car one time and upon starting the triangle was there and also a note the Drivers Assist Systems were unavailable. The next trip cycle and several after there was no message and the system worked fine with the exception of intermittent ignoring of lane change requests.

I've called the Service Center to get an appointment. Spoke with a rep and he assured me they would call back with an appointment date. Figure I'll get the CCCv2 at the same time. Still waiting for that return call..

Curious what was diagnosed as your problem. My 2023 AT has 55K miles, now running on 2.10.0. Noticed this week while driving on the interstate that my Lane Change Assist (LCA) functionality was usually "not available". Checked my Dream Drive Settings and toggled it to make sure it was enabled. Sometimes after waking up LCA worked as normal, but about 90% of the time I would hold the turn signal stalk to engage the LCA and it just drops a function not available message. Would appreciate any thoughts....

BTW, when in this mode the dash graphic always shows solid lane lines, no dashes. Don't believe any of my front sensors are obscured, but my LCA seems to think it's turned off.

Got that as well but was also in a remote place with poor gps and data coverage which I associated to that but could be wrong as I read you. Having solid lane on a highway means the system miss informations to run 100%
My second time here (eastend side of Québec province and 4 updates later) and like last year the car think I'm in another time zone if I let it to automatic selection. Just to say how crappy is the nav system (HERE provider) in Lucid. HERE nav system is anywhere but here... Could also be Mickey Mouse antenna and / or receiver module...

I experienced random Hands Free inoperability usually brief and I had CCCv2 installed last summer. The lane change problem was not one that bothered me but the random red warnings to put my hands on the wheel were very annoying because I always drive with my hands at 9 and 3 and even when I squeezed the steering wheel the warnings continued. I liked hands free driving despite the annoyances and occasional inoperability, but I am in the process of replacing my now totaled, rear ended 2023 AGT with a 2025 AGT with only DD Premium. Odd that were no 2025 or low mileage 2024 AGTs with DD Pro available recently. Maybe they are in such demand that they are spoken for before they hit the pre-owned list on the Lucid site. (No 2026 AGT's available with anything close to my preferred colors and options and I was told that a 2027 would not be available to order, much less take delivery on for an uncertain interval.) I will miss hands free on long interstate segments but drove cross country twice before it was activated so will get used to not having it again. FWIW, I never expected to have a six sigma FSD option available when I ordered my first AGT.

The car came to me with full PPF. Whoever installed it did not cut cleanly around the sensors so they occasionally got confused.

When you say “squeezed the steering wheel,” are you gripping the steering wheel harder or are you applying torque? The Air requires slight torque to be applied - gripping harder, won’t do anything.

If you liked DDPro on the Air, you’ll like it even more on the Gravity. The Gravity’s steering wheel is capacitive, so all you need to do is rest your hands on the wheel for hands-on mode. Not having to apply torque to register your hands is a huge quality of life improvement.

In hands-free mode, the eye-tracking camera is located on the steering wheel and won’t be obstructed by the steering wheel positioning.

It's not a "turn" but more of a "nudge". Your tires never change direction.

The Air cannot detect your hands. Dream Drive is applying force to the steering wheel to keep your car in lane. The only way it knows you have your hands on the wheel is if it senses some resistance to its steering inputs. You must periodically apply light torque - not enough to change steering appreciably, but enough for it to sense resistance.

It’s not ideal, but I’ve been doing this for 10 years on my old Tesla and it works fine. I’ve found “wiggling” the steering wheel to be effective. Doesn’t the Air have a graphic showing left/right wiggling as part of the warning to keep your hands on the wheel?

Torque sensing was the early method of detecting hands being on the steering wheel that was standard for all vehicle manufactures. Since then, torque sensing has been replaced with capacitive sensing.

The Gravity can sense your hands holding the steering wheel without having to apply mild torque (and where gripping harder helps the sensing). It would be nice if future Air models are refreshed with all the newer technologies.
