Does anybody know if adaptive cruise control tried to use regenerative breaking as much as possible when slowing down ?

In my experience, yes. Watch the power meter on your dashboard. Also, when it applies the brakes, you can see/feel the brake pedal moving automatically. It should almost never do that though, basically only if someone slams on their brakes right in front of you.

Doesn’t the power meter disappear when ACC is on?

With ACC/HA on you'll see a thin line below the speedometer. It grows to the left when regenerating, and it grows to the right when supplying power.
