FWIW, alcantara steering wheels should be cleaned and refreshed every once in a while; in my experience every month or two of daily use. There are plenty of videos online on how to do this. Buying a replacement wheel or reupholstering because the fibers are matted down is a very extreme approach but becomes necessary if you don't periodically maintain the alcantara.
