2026 Air GT showing low range with 19" tires

Hello, new 2026 Lucid Air GT owner here, loving this car. Have a question for the community. The car originally had 21" tires. I had them changed at the dealership to the 19" aero range in order to get the 512 mile range. However, my range still reports as 480 miles on a full charge even after the SW setting is changed to reflect the 19" tires. Is there something more that needs to be set or changed in order to reflect the higher range? Thank you in advance.
 
I cannot answer your question.

But I can offer advice.

EPA range is range under very specific controlled set of circumstances. For real driving, it is just a computer calculated estimate based on past driving. Making assumptions on future range is inherently fuzzy.

In ICE vehicles the display standard for eons is fraction of full. The driver had to do a little math knowing mpg they get.

That is why I display battery %, not range and why I and many others try to estimate miles/kwh variations with driving circumstance.

And I have a question for the forum: why does it seem there is more or larger variation with circumstance in EVs than ICEs. Or is it we are conscious of it because refueling is less dense.

To change your Lucid Air's tire settings after swapping wheels,
navigate to Settings > Vehicle on the Pilot Panel, then go to the Tires page to select Installed Tires. After entering your Profile PIN, you can choose Select Front Tires or Select Rear Tires and enter the new tire size, such as 19", 20", or 21".
Here are the detailed steps:
  1. Access Settings: From the Pilot Panel, go to Settings.
  2. Navigate to Vehicle Settings: Select the Vehicleoption from the main settings menu.
  3. Open the Tires Page: On the Vehicle page, find and open the Tires page.
  4. Access Installed Tires: Select the Select Installed Tires option to manage your wheel configuration.
  5. Enter PIN: You will be prompted to enter your Profile PIN for security purposes.
  6. Select Front or Rear Tires: Choose either Select Front Tires or Select Rear Tires to begin the configuration process for a specific wheel position.
  7. Input New Tire Size: Select the correct tire size for the installed wheel, whether it's a 19", 20", or 21" configuration.

The variation is the same between the two vehicles in total energy (actually the ICE does worse than the EV) but very different when measured as a percent.

If we assume driving at 80 mph causes the vehicle to use 1 kw-hr more fuel per mile then when operated at 65 mph. On an EV this would be a ~25% change. If energy loss on the ICE was the same 1 kw-hr it would equal to about 1/35 of a gallon. On a vehicle getting 30mpg fuel economy would drop to 29 mpg. Actual losses on the ICE are higher since cD and rolling resistance is worse and causes higher energy losses vs speed than the EV.

This ☝️ . Given that you're a new owner, you shouldn't have any battery degradation, so changing that setting is key...

Have same problem, dis you figure it out? Even after changing wheel size on the dashboard, the range stays the same.
 
Yes, dealership has to push a SW update to get the range to read correctly. A quick phone call to the service desk and then several hours later the update came through (they needed the main engineering team to send the update which is why it took several hours).
 
I wish I had your luck, I keep trying to explain to CS that I am not talking about actual range that doesn’t update with wheel size but the one on the dashboard at full charge and they keep telling me that there are several factors that affect range, finally was passed on to tech support just to have the same conversation, I got a technician to send an update but that was just a resend of the last “robustness “ update and it dod nothing. My dashboard still shows range limit as if I was on my 21s.
 
Competence seems a rare commodity these days. Sorry to hear. My understanding is that this is specifically a new issue with the 2026 air models since they introduced the non aero wheels in the 19" size. Previously there was only 1 19 inch wheel option so the miles were fixed for a particular trim. However with the 2026 that is no longer the case. I had pointed out that I suspected this was the reason why simply telling the car you had 19 inch was no longer sufficient and resulted in that ah-ha moment for my technician. I think the 2026 options are so new that most of the service guys are not up to speed... maybe try telling them that?

In case it helps I used the Lucid dealership in Natick, MA. They should know how to help since they took care of it for me. Maybe they can help explain it to your specific tech?

Has anyone else with a 2026 Lucid Air GT switched from 21" to 19" aero tires but still seen only 480 miles range after updating settings, and how was it fixed?
