I called my local Lucid Studio to see if I could finally get the overnight test drive I have trying to get for months. Yes was finally the answer EXCEPT the only car available for that was a base model Touring. No SSP, no DDP, no glass canopy. No thank you. So, instead I took a two hour demo drive of a new GT (400 miles on it). We went over the controls and away I went. Once I was on the open freeway cruising around 70, I attempted to engage the adaptive cruise control. Nothing. "Adaptive Cruise" appeared in greyed out form on the display along with my selected speed but it wouldn't engage. Tried to switch to Drive Assist and it didn't even show up. So, I exited the freeway and called my Lucid Advisor to see what I was doing wrong. He walked me through the exact steps I tried to get it to work. Got back on the freeway...still no joy. So, I went back to the Studio. He offered to give it a go and off we went. Didn't work for him either. Oh well, it's off the Lucid Service to get sorted and I'll have to free up another day to try again. My main reason for the drive was to check out Hands-Free Drive Assist. My wife's 2025 Ford Explorer Platinum has Blue Cruise and it's great. I want to compare the two...Another weird thing I noticed was that in Sprint mode when I nailed the throttle, it took off like a bat out of hell, but stopped accelerating at around 85 MPH. Didn't seem right to me either, but I wasn't going to mention that...

Demos and loaners are limited to 85

Wenn man bedenkt, dass die Deutschen die Autobahn erfunden haben, würde ich annehmen, dass es dort viele verrückte Autofahrer gibt.

haha no worries this is good ;)
and yes it makes lot of fun driving in Germany, even though some constructions do not lead you drive 300km/h anymore :D

This happened to me recently. I think it was the first time I tried HFDA since the last software update. No HFDA, no Adaptive Cruise. I reset the car a couple times without success, however after sleeping over night (the car, not me. They used to get pinged home every time a loaner peaked over 100mph. Some of us may or may not have driven the loaners like our own cars that caused a flurry of pings to the mothership on some mountain roads and back roads in the countryside.

It is probably for the best.
 
Just took my Gravity GT to Tahoe and engaged Hands free kinda by mistake. I loved it! Only problem, and I think this can be figured out, is it would move from the fast lane to the next lane over without any reason. No other cars around. This is quite a problem as the drive up Hwy 80 is way more rough in any but the left lane because of chain and truck use. Interesting that it did not do that on the ride home. Crazy great car to drive up mountains, I hit 110mph going up a very steep section completely by mistake. No charging stress either. I charge while grocery shopping and had plenty to make it back to the Bay area. Love this car for road trips!
 
It's does switch to left lane because it recognises to drive on the slower lane. Fast lane for overtaking only. It's programmed that way.
 
I'm fine with that but when there are no cars around, and the car knows that, why switch lanes? I am never a left lane squatter and would not let the car block overtaking traffic on self driving mode.

Some states it's even a law, whether there's other cars or not.

Unfortunately, we're nowhere near the technology required for the car to intelligently choose a lane based on road surface characteristics.

At this point I think it's best that you accept that you can either use the ADAS and its choice to follow law (or at least best practice) and stay out of the left lane unless passing, or just use basic adaptive cruise control on those areas and manually drive in the lane you want to be in.

I understand that. But for example also in Germany by law to be in the most right lane.. Even if no one is around. And I have heard its the same in some US states also. So the car does exactly what it should do.
 
Well, my Lucid advisor called me today to say the Air GT is back and everything is working. I'm going for another demo drive tomorrow...
