This surprised me as well. A webview of the logged in dashboard to at least show the order is not a huge lift in the grand scheme of things. Rivian does a decent job of leveraging their app pre delivery or without a car configured.

I suspect it's for the "got home from a long trip on Sunday and want the car charged for Monday morning" use case. For the daily drive it's almost certainly overkill. For the bigger batteries that starts to make a difference. From 20 > 80 could be as much as 7-8 hours for the Gravity on a 9.6kw...

That's correct, if the car is totaled on a lease you eat any down payment, which is the argument for only ever doing zero down on a lease.

Thank you to you and your wife for all the info and insight. You mentioned Mazda, have you driven the CX90? That's the only 3 row I've driven that I felt handled like a much smaller vehicle, but my sample size isn't that great, mostly Detroit or Kia (no German 3 rows, e.g.).

I did appreciate getting a good look at non-green color combo that isn't a shaky phone camera video :)
