21" Tire Dilemma - all seasons

Exactly. Much lower cost, much better tires, much nicer looking wheels. I am a fan of the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5. My Lucid handles great in snow or 10 degree days

    Summer to Winter tire swapping

Same on my Touring. Only 19 and 21. Fyi, I love the Lucid in our recent 2 foot snow storm with Michi Pilot Alpin 5s on 19" wheels.

    toll tags/rfid on windshield

In Colorado, the EZ Pass transponder works fine under the rear view mirror module. Supposed to in lower left corner corner. Spoke to EZ Pass CS tech and he said put it anywhere on the windshield you want, outside the field of view. He said their tests have shown it will work on any "normal"...

    Tire Pressure Monitor

Road & Track ran a great article recently: Tis the season for TPMS alarms to go off, with warm days and cold nights. In my experience, The 21s loose air a bit faster than 19s. And the 21s are not forgiving for under inflation.

    18-inch Wheels

Judging that many 19" do not clear, I do not see much if any chance. I suggest you contact a wheel manufacturer, like Velox, that actually does a laser scan of each car's brake hub. Many people here have 19" winter set ups and love them. I would be very hesitant to use a wheel size that was...

NEMA 14-50 Outlet vs. Home Charging Station: Which to Choose?

Slightly different take than my brother from a different mother @DeaneG Basically, that is a good idea for wire but not the breaker. The breakers protect the wire and receptacle from catching fire. You can't future proof it. The breaker trip amperage must be the lower of the rating for...

NEMA 14-50 Outlet vs. Home Charging Station: Which to Choose?

I am as well, with a 14-50 plug at my vacation home and hardwired at residence in Denver. Both with ChargePoint EVSE's. They both work flawlessly. NOTE: I got both for free from the local utilities. As part of getting them, both must be connected to wifi so the utilities can monitor. For one...

NEMA 14-50 Outlet vs. Home Charging Station: Which to Choose?

Great advice. 14-30s are the electric dryer standard receptacle. Only 24 amps off charging. 14-50s are the standard for as stoves, ranges, mig welders, plasma torches. Can handle 40 amps. Installation cost the same, parts cost slightly more.

Lucid Combined Home Charging System Installation tips!

That is truly impressive. Our next door neighbor in the Mountains just had a 50 amp outlet installed in their garage for a new VW EV. Sure enough, there was a $10 Leviton receptacle.

    Charging Beyond the Charge Limit

Very normal. Someone on the forum explained months ago and it's a hoot. Your car stops charging at 80.0000% SOC. With any tiny tiny power use, the SOC on your car goes down to 79.9999%. And, your app and dash will then read 79%. No rounding up....

Lucid Combined Home Charging System Installation tips!

Mechanical lugs, A/K/A chair lugs are made from various quality aluminum alloys and are tin plated. Thats why HD ones are $2 and decent grade ones from Digikey are $5. Quality ones use a hex key screw. Straight blade screw mechanical lugs tend to be homeowner DIY grade. They offer no...

    Rear seat covers

We chose medium. Just covers the seats and fully covers back. Edge to edge is 52 for medium and 62 is large. Is thickly padded, so getting the large would seem to crumble up the bottom when closing the doors. Easy to unhook when folding down rear seat back.

    Pirelli 21" Tires

That is great news! My friends at Conti tell me that most of the ongoing tire research from them and others now relates to EVs and its semi-unique issues: noise, car weight, treadwear/mileage due to torque on accel and decel. Plus the airless work from Michelin.

    Electrify America Overpriced?

Great questions Lefty. I am purely guessing, but I think all the free charging has had unintended consequences. I read that Tesla did it at first to overcome buyers resistance due to range anxiety when traveling. But no one expected it would be used by so many for primary charging around home.

    Electrify America Overpriced?

I believe EA prices are very reasonable. Only looking at raw KW cost is flawed economics. Like a restaurant only looking at its raw food costs. The cost of a 350 kw DC charger per pedestal is about $100k, installing is $40k to 150,000. Plus site acquisition, rent, insurance, back end...
