Can you take a picture for me?

As discussed in the other thread, I was recently test driving the Lucid Air in the Netherlands, but I forgot to take picture of the left-hand side panel, the touch screen with the fixed button layout. In my opinion this panel is a big leap forward in the use of touch screens in cars. Touch...

German Tesla drivers taking a Lucid for a test drive in Hilversum, Netherlands

As part of a group of 11 people road-tripping the BeNeLux with 5 Teslas, we had the unique opportunity to stop by Lucid in Hilversum and try out the cars — on stationary display as well as behind the wheel. Here is my recount of that event in the German Tesla forum...

So who was driving it, eventually? BTW, whoever it was did not wear a Lucid branded helmet, as can be seen in the "video from the rear passenger".

    Regrets

That's precisely how I feel about my 9-year-old Tesla, and the transition from the former to the latter took surprisingly long. Well, almost exactly until I learned more about the Lucid Air... ;)

    Autogefuehl DE review has dropped!

I'm so happy that this one was done by a British speaker! Being German myself, I just can't stand listening to Thomas' German accent for the entire length of such a review... 🙉

Is Power vs Range mainly a software setting?

The technical term is price differentiation, and it’s a way to get the most money out of each customer: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_discrimination I don’t criticize Lucid for it. IMO it’s fair. Nobody „needs“ the performance version, so if someone absolutely thinks they must have it...

Is Power vs Range mainly a software setting?

That’s an interesting question. I don’t have authoritative source, but I doubt it: If it was only in software that would mean that you could have both in the same car (which is exactly what you’re getting at). Then if Lucid could offer a software switch, like, just another one of those three...

    No regen resistance….

Let me add to the confusion. 😉 Regen is silver but coasting is gold. Let’s be clear that this is not relevant in practice but makes a noticeable difference when „hypermiling“: Friction brakes (pads on disks) are worst because they dissipate the entire movement energy into heat which is then gone...

Why did you decide for the Lucid Air vs. Model S, EQS, i7, Taycan, ...?

The reason is simple and mechanical: In Europe there is a standardized DC-plug called CCS, that is also used by newer Tesla models and that has long become standard for all new Supercharger sites. Older Tesla models (orginal Model S and Model X) can upgrade to CSS by way of an adapter and a...

    Hypermiling

I’m curious: What’s the best range you can get, when you try really hard? Not best mileage, but actual distance driven. I once tried my trusty old Model S 85 (2013) and in almost perfect conditions I got 466 km (290 mi) out of it. Took me 5:15 h non-stop at an average speed of 89 km/h (55 mph)...

    Possible to load images faster?

Not sure what you are referring to, but in Preferences > Style there is only "Light" vs. "Dark" (no White, Black, Red). I was on "Light" (which I prefer) and switched to "Dark" for testing, but performance is as sluggish as always. 🤷‍♂️

    No regen resistance….

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regenerative_braking This system is independent from the friction brakes, which you always have on every car, including EVs. So, there's always the option to come to a stop safely by hitting the brake pedal. Yet, it can be a bit startling and off-setting if the...

    Possible to load images faster?

The forum has problems with performance in many ways, but it shows the most when loading images. Which is a shame because it would be really nice to browse through a lot of beautiful pictures... but as it is now, complete turn-off. 😢

How to limit or stop email notifications

I should be noted that un-checking the "Receive email..." options takes a while to become active in the system. I still received an occasional email the day after I turned it off, but now it seems to have settled and no more email is coming.

Why did you decide for the Lucid Air vs. Model S, EQS, i7, Taycan, ...?

When I entered the EV space 10 years ago, the Tesla Model S basically was the only option worth considering as an ICE replacement for travel and family. As a result, the Model S was overloaded with expectation, it had to be everything to everybody. I still think that the Model S struck a great...
