    Grand Touring Tracker (Archive)

@hydbob No. The interior pictures look like that would work for me. But not enough range. I have two ICE vehicles in the family that are OK. My Jeep Grand Cherokee has a console but the geometry is good for me. But my son is taking that vehicle, and the Air was to be a replacement for the...

    Grand Touring Tracker (Archive)

I finally, first time, saw and sat in the car today at the Tyson Virginia studio. That's the closest one to me, about a 6 hour drive. I was in the area for another reason. I am retired now, but in my professional life I drove a lot. Over a million miles. In that million miles I developed an...

    Nitrogen

    @hydbob I believe so.

    Nitrogen

I used to put nitrogen in race car tires. The tire pressure was very low, 10-15 pounds. Nitrogen doesn't change pressure with temperature as much as regular "air", so that was the reason. I have no clue on the rolling resistance / better mileage benefit.

Lucid Air Dream Edition DC Fast Charge Comparison

I think we have to separate the "percent of charge" measurement from the "miles to go" measurement. These are of course related, but the relationship depends on many factors. Same for an ICE vehicle...How far can you go on 3/4 tank of gas? Well, depends on how fast you go, terrain, traffic, etc.

Lucid Air Dream Edition DC Fast Charge Comparison

@pam4_AGT ... Thanks. I was assuming the flattening of the charging curve was a function of the SOC.

Lucid Air Dream Edition DC Fast Charge Comparison

Let me ask that question a different way... From tom's graphs, on a 350kW charger, it took 12 minutes to get from 0% to 40%, and 22 minutes to get from 0% to 60%. If the charge starts at 40% on the same 350kW charger, can I assume it will take 10 minutes to get to 60%?

Lucid Air Dream Edition DC Fast Charge Comparison

EV newbie question... Is it not accurate to look at the charging time graph from Tom's video and look at the time difference between any two SOC to see the charging time between them? Does starting at 0% make the 20% to 50% charging time any different than starting at 20%?

    Software issues versus daily driving

I have noticed that some AWD vehicles behave a little like RWD when given throttle in a turn, inducing oversteer (my Jeep Grand Cherokee), and some behave like FWD, inducing understeer (my wife's Mazda CX-5). And some are pretty neutral (The Audi A4 i don't have anymore). Of course these...

    Insurance Megathread

I did an online quote (no VIN) with Progressive as a test. Very easy and fast to get a quote. I use a different company for all my insurance, and will try to stay with my existing provider, but good to know there is a plan B.

    1.1.7 Release Notes

Thanks. Mostly we don't have much stop and go traffic nearby. My wife's Mazda has ACC, and from a complete stop you have to hit "resume" to go again.

    1.1.7 Release Notes

If you come to a complete stop, do you need to do anything when traffic starts moving? Or does the car just start on its own?

    Air Dream Deliveries?

My experience has been that automotive suppliers are certified and then responsible to ship good parts. Incoming inspection at the point of assembly is spot check only. Until a non conforming part is discovered, and then the poop hits the proverbial fan, with supplier personnel dispatched to the...
