First I’ve heard of someone using BT to remote the radio. What a great idea! Re DMR, it’s getting more popular in the Annapolis area. Our club is debating changing one of our repeaters to DMR from FM. Have fun!

Don't bother with an HT unless you have an external antenna. The glass tint is metallic and it works real good at blocking RF. I've tried it.

That has absolutely nothing to do with ham radio. (The proper title is the Amateur Radio Service.) We actually talk with like-minded ham operators around the world rather than just listen to some guy who parts his hair like Alfalfa.

Yeah, I know. I definitely expected to see more operators in here wanting to put a rig in their car. Maybe no one is looking for help because they think it's too difficult - which is definitely not if you look at my photos. 73..... Frank / WA3NHK

I think the Lucid keyfob uses the DeForest Audion.

Does it use vacuum tubes? 😄

That's why I went for the FTM-500. AFAIK, it's the only mobile that puts the mic interface in the remote head. And the built-in speaker is very good. The TR unit is tucked away in the trunk cubby and below the antenna. The only interconnection is a CAT5 cable. I don't understand why all...

it calls itself a tube tester, but if it’s a real tube tester then I’m Emperor of Patagonia. Maybe it just heats filaments with a resistor directly in series with the AC line. I wonder if it can test power pentodes?

Oooohhhh. Didn't see that. I dunno. A fellow ham gave me a wooden full of tubes and stuff. It's been bouncing around my trunk for weeks because I've been too lazy to bring it in. I'm headed to the garage so I'll check and report back.

BTW, I know what tubes are. Um a 'murican.

No. It's a Yaesu FTM-500 TR unit sitting in my trunk cubby. The 12v socket couldn't be more convenient.

Hi dmurphynj, First, I inserted my photos before I started entering this text. Important safety note ----- Don't do that. If you do you won't be given a message entry field. I installed my FTM-500 in the right side cubby in my trunk. It fit perfect and there's a 12v plug right there. I ran...

You probably had a lot of torque steer when that dynamotor was spinning. 😃

Looks nice. If you're curious, have a look at my installation on page 3 of this thread. "keys that worked".....(long sigh).....Those were the days.....(another long sigh)

Hey! That isn't an Air!

Hi Dennis, Are you excited or what? :) Welcome to the thread. I'm driving a 25 AT and I was grappling with how to install a radio. Thru-glass and mag mounts are out. (The glass tint is an embedded metal film and everything is aluminum.) But I solved my predicament and the solution works...

That was the active XM channel.

Nope. And I don’t recall ever being on vets highway and approaching that turn with nav on. I can get to Dunkin on my own.

I hope they address the newly introduced bug that came with 2.8.30. Every time I get into the car I get this goofy travel info on the cockpit panel. It's persistent. I'll try a logo reset and report back.
