I wouldn't say this is petty, but it's expensive. If I was the owner, I would have fixed this before turning the car in. You can't expect a lease company to be fair to you for damages out of raisonnable norm. It's expensive, but I think the op bear some responsibility in this.

To get a fair and helpful result; I think we need some context like do you have a large family, do you need space; do you travel a lot or barely drive. Without some context, saving money is no brainer.
