    USAA Lucid Experience

I had an accident near the end of 2022 and am insured with USAA. There was a lot of initial confusion over getting estimates, etc, but that was ironed out. (At that point Lucid really was a unicorn.) I ended up with $97K of damage (an initial estimate of $50K and then a $49K supplemental), but...

    Cold weather battery tips

My garage is at 38 degrees, and the car has been plugged in for the past two days. I'm not sure how well this is actually protecting the battery.

    Cold weather battery tips

Roads were too crappy to want to drive the LUCID the past couple days, and I kept it plugged in. My garage is not heated but is insulated, and for the third time this winter I have seen the blue coloring and warning of limited power due to cold, even as the car has been at 80% when I got in.

    New HV Battery

When they notified me that my HV battery needed to be replaced last Fall (@24K miles), it was on a 2-out-of-5 level, so not an emergency. They try to get them early. It took them a couple weeks to get my car on the schedule, but my car continued to drive fine until they were able to replace it...

Electrify America is enraging EV owners

I've had my AGT for over a year, and I've only needed to use an EA station fewer than a dozen times. I charge at home 99% of the time. Maybe a dozen times I've been out and about and under 50% and figured I was near an EA charger, so why not "top up" (typically at least an hour from home). I...

    Winter Car Wash Lessons Learned

Took my car for a wash before the upcoming storm (For obvious reasons shown below, she'll stay tucked in the garage), with temps at 22 degrees (not counting windchill). I got home and the frunk was frozen shut. I was starting to worry the beef I had bought to make stew would be in there till...

    RESOLVED Android Auto Thursday

I actually don't even care about AA anymore, but I would like the Google Maps to replace the current system, and maybe even have a fully mapped route with any/all stops load into the NAV system. There are a number of locations I go to where the system literally does not recognize an address, and...

    USB Media Guidelines and Tips!

OK, I took a beverage and my laptop out to the car this evening and gradually added folders/albums onto the 32GB USB I had, checking to see if it loaded after each batch. I managed to get about 3GB of music on it before it got stuck in the loop. This included adding about 50 songs that were...

    USB Media Guidelines and Tips!

I reformatted the USB and loaded four songs to test it out, and it worked fine. I added in about 6GB of music and it stuck at 21% and kept trying to reload. I dropped down to about 1 GB of music, and it reloads to 56% before freezing, so it's no longer useful, unfortunately. I may contact the SC...

    Speculation Lucid UX 3.0

The worst one for me was after one update and for a week or so I had no trips less than 3000 miles (@46 hours). My Nav system froze my location as the HQS in Newark, CA, so I couldn't use my NAV till the system was fixed.

    USB Media Guidelines and Tips!

Thanks.... mine worked until the latest update and now it only loads up to 21%. I'll give it another try reformatting.

8% is the lowest I've gotten so far. Maybe I can breathe a bit easier? https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2022-lucid-air-grand-touring-performance-yearlong-review-update-11-running-out-of-range/?galleryimageid=8cfee312-840c-4f76-a964-7f0ce2e5a512

Electrify America is enraging EV owners

One of my infrequent stops in the Manchester, NH, EA station - only 1 of 4 stations was open (a 150 kW). One of the cables wouldn't connect and got stuck in the charging port (twice) and I had to manually release it. I switched to the other cable on the station and it connected, I acknowledge EA...

what are you watching right now?

Oppenheimer. I still can't believe that watching a 3-hour movie that is mostly talking keeps me riveted. I saw it in IMAX months ago, but picked up things I missed the first time through.

How Old Are You In Years…Not In Attitude?

It's actually some free entertainment. I was helping clean out a house and pulled up to a donations place... emptied out the back seat, the front seat, the trunk, the sub-trunk ... you should have seen their faces once I opened the frunk/sub-frunk and kept pulling bags and boxes out. P.S. You...

Huge thanks to long time owners!

If all goes as planned, I hope to make my first cross-country trip to visit an old friend not too far from you in Carlsbad this summer. Enjoy your visit! Sorry there's no snow.

Huge thanks to long time owners!

I finished my Christmas baking yesterday, and it was a clear sunny day today, so there was no way I was not going to hand-deliver this year's Christmas cookies to someone 75 miles away. Played Christmas tunes and smiled (4.0 mi/kWh). Heading 85 miles in the opposite direction tomorrow. My...

Tesla blamed drivers for failures of parts it long knew were defective

None of this "blame the client" culture with Tesla surprises me at all. Six months after getting my Model Y, the charging computer in the car malfunctioned and also fried the corded mobile connector I used plugged into a dedicated NEMA 14-50 outlet. I had my electrician check the outlet and...

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow ♫

Back in the late 80s, my work "upgraded" to Sun computers, which came with all types of tricks. If you knew the terminal number of someone, you could remotely mess with them. Watching someone type a document and then mysteriously see all the letter "S"s disappear was fun. Of course, someone...
