Lucid's Charging Curve, can it be improved via OTA update?

My GT-P charges at 145-155kW up to 72%. I believe only the GT-P and DE do this. However, 2025 models should have similar charging curves.

Lucid's Charging Curve, can it be improved via OTA update?

...w/ 10% SoC), there is virtually no differences between the EA 150kV and 300kV chargers. By the time you get to 50%+, the charge rate is often less than 80kW. I understand the limiters of thermal and battery degradation. But I think a flatter charging curve is more advantageous for road...

Lucid's Charging Curve, can it be improved via OTA update?

Sure, what's the 10 year degradation on the battery packs for the cars doing 200kW sustained? Answer: We don't know, they haven't existed that long. Better isn't just about the short term. Subjectively to you, that matters more.

Lucid's Charging Curve, can it be improved via OTA update?

Ummm, Lucid's claim is their "industry-leading" fast charge, @350+kW, 900V etc.. Other competitors are doing much better with flatter charging curves that imports 200kW over a sustained period of time (say 30min). Lucid's charge rates often dropped well below the 200kW level after10m.

Lucid's Charging Curve, can it be improved via OTA update?

...is the long term effect of the difference of this curve. Lucid could change it today and just make it absolutely rip - but battery degradation over the next 5 years might be absolutely awful as a result. Have to kind of trust that they're adjusting it the best they can for a much longer...

    Typical Battery Range Degradation

I'm curious about normal battery range degradation. I've had my Lucid Air Touring for 22 months with 34,427 miles on it. My range at 80% charge has declined from 340 miles to 333 miles so a rate of roughly 1 mile range degradation per 5000 miles driven ( = 34,.427 / (340-333) ). Seems...

The API shows a value named "battery health level". What is it?

This must be a really recent development. I had my battery back replaced earlier this year. Lucid Service in Costa Mesa CA assured me that it would be a brand new battery, and not a refurbished or remanufactured, or re-anything one.

The API shows a value named "battery health level". What is it?

    Remanufactured, not refurbished. Important distinction.

The API shows a value named "battery health level". What is it?

For most of the recent battery replacements, Lucid is using refurbished modules from prior battery replacements. My service center told me that the replacement battery is selected to have very similar degradation to the battery being replaced. Hence, you will only see a slight change.

    My GT battery degradation

...home and using DC fast charging on the road), never let the car sit for extended periods above 80% charge. I'm sure we saw some battery degradation during these nine years, but never to the point that it changed anything about the way we drove locally or how long we drove between charging...

    My GT battery degradation

There's a lot of discussions here about the best SOC range to keep the battery in. In short; yes 40%-60% is a bit better for lower battery degradation than 20%-80%, but in real life you wouldn't notice it, as you need to charge so many times (based on full cycle charges) that the mechanical or...

...off of predicted EPA numbers at the time of sale. It makes sense though as I was having a hard time believing I had one mile of battery degradation in 2 years. Regarding best charging practices, I would love to get more information about what Lucid says and what members of this forum believe...

The API shows a value named "battery health level". What is it?

To be clear, I didn’t say it’s not about degradation… I think it actually is… We are just not privy to the calculations and the accuracy of the number.

The API shows a value named "battery health level". What is it?

My understanding is that over time battery cells get out of balance and need to go through a protocol to rebalance them. I'm wondering if this has something to do with that, since @Bobby has information that it's not about degradation. It's odd, though, that they would label it "battery...

The API shows a value named "battery health level". What is it?

Nobody is exactly sure. At one point, we thought it was related to degradation but we were later told it’s not.

    My GT battery degradation

I bought a used GT last month and charged it to 100%. The car only had 5000 miles on it, but the battery degradation surprised me in a good way. I know the car is rated for 516 Mi. And at 100% charged to 515 miles. I hope this portends good things to come. Do we have an official healthy battery...

    Lucid API

Yes, although you’d have to log out and back in to refresh it. We do not know what the battery capacity means. We don’t know if there’s a reserve, of if it’s accurate at all. The battery health is a Lucid-provided metric, but we don’t know how it works or what it measures. The majority of...

    Level 2 - J1772 (@32A) charging questions

I was in touch with a Houston service center regarding potential battery degradation and lost range concerns. They want me to try the following for a month before we take the vehicle in. I am sharing this here for awareness as I have not seen (in my limited searching) charging to 80% and...
