    New Member from FL

Welcome. We enjoyed a nice road trip from Milwaukee to Tampa last summer. Outstanding EA charging experiences in FL. Lake City, Gainesville, Tampa.

    Cybertruck structure vs accident safety

No reason to draw that conclusion from what I can tell. Based on the geometry of the front wheels/chassis relative to the passenger compartment and the inherent forces and loads on the frame I suspect the CT will never pass any crash test and will not see wide spread commercial sales thereafter...

Model S Plaid vs Vs Air Touring

Thank you for the mental notes. I really appreciate it. I was very very close to purchasing the S but then it became available only with the yoke. Silly. Then I checked back 2 years later and the price went from $75k to $105k. Sillier. It seems like 25% of my neighborhood is either the S, 3, or...

    LCID stock

Like many, I am deeply concerned the first 3 quarters of 2024 will be a painfully slow and quiet time with little to no good news for LCID. There is a possibility of some upside with Saudi production and sales reporting. In North America it will be a challenge to stay noticed and relevant...

What transfers for used cars for sale?

Less. Most people don’t use fast charging as much as you would think. There are an increasing number of destination chargers available that are free/cheaper. I would value it at $2-3k.

Do you have any notes on your comparison you can share as well?

    Sirius XM Beta ended?

My SiriusXM has shifted from Beta to the 90 day free trial. I feel the fidelity and resolution is significantly improved now over the audio quality of Beta. Not like Tidal/Atmos but noticeably better. We use SiriusXM in all of our vehicles and now I’m convinced I will keep it in the Lucid.

Electrify America is enraging EV owners

I wonder what is the root cause of this variability of our charging experiences with EA. I am a regular user of EA on road trips and I have never had any issues whatsoever with the vehicle to charger connection, handshake, and free charge process. The only issues I have had with EA are waiting...

Winter driving observations from a newbie

I did a detailed post a few days ago about winter driving efficiency. My conclusion is at 20F I lost 33% efficiency. I find the 19 inch all season tires to be outstanding for all season tires. Lucid features the Pirelli winter tires if you want better snow and ice performance. I plan to get...

Forget efficiency - Drive faster for just $6 per month!

Drive any way you want and I will do the same. Don’t tell me what to do and I won’t tell you what to do. I enjoy the efficiency aspect of the Lucid Air because nothing showcases the engineering leadership of Lucid in the EV industry as the ability to drive with great comfort at 4.5 mi/KWh...

Forget efficiency - Drive faster for just $6 per month!

There is no one right answer. If you want to drive for maximum efficiency, go for it. I got 4.5 mi/KWh on a trip last summer. If you want to drive prudently to try to save the planet, go for it. If you want to drive for maximum fun, go for it. The Lucid Air is anything you want it to be on any...

    Home Charging Miles per Hour

    Better to just do the math. 48A x 240v = 11.5KW. An hour of charging is 11.5KWh. If you think you can get 4 mi/KWh that is 11.5 x 4 = 46 miles/hour.

    Cold Weather Update

900 mile road trip in the upper Midwest. Day 1 was 30F with heavy sleet. I did 3.1 mi/kWh with the same driving style when I achieved 4.2 mi/kWh in the summer, 68-74 mph using ACC and no manual acceleration. Day 2 was 20F with wind but no precipitation and I achieved only 2.8. I used the seat...

Success - or not? - with EVgo?

EVGo is my primary backup to EA. They do have many older 50KW chargers. If you use a newer one those have worked well for me, typically 100-125 KW in my experience. I have the app and the connection/handshake works seemlessly.

    Concerns for Gravity

Lucid is miles ahead of the game launching Gravity vs. Air. Established suppliers, component designs, manufacturing and assembly process design and methodologies, quality control data, and general operations experience. Gravity is a larger vehicle with some additional complexities and is...

    Car Dealerships and EVs

Here is a nice story. Driving home Monday afternoon in the Lucid getting ready for Thanksgiving, I hit a pothole hard and blew the right rear tire. I drove carefully at very slow speed on the rim to get the vehicle to a safe spot. First available place just ahead happened to be a Toyota dealer...

    Charging stations discussion

I have been using the philosophy to stop more often, every 2.5-3 hours (need to stretch and pee) and do a quick partial recharge each stop. For me it saves time overall.

    Charging stations discussion

I have also signed up for EVGo as a backup to EA. Good to have ready-to-use options in case there are no EA locations nearby or if they are full/inoperative. I have had very good luck with EVGo. Usage is simple if you create an account ahead of time and initiate the charging session through the...

    Charging stations discussion

The EA app updates charger status in near real time as well. If you don’t mind stopping along the way, there is an EA location just east of Naples and one in Port Charlotte that both appear to be working at this point in time.
