What does Drive Drive do today? (not Pro)

That would be a relief. I was getting a bit worried that adaptive cruise isn’t listed as being part of in the DD suite on the website.

    Air Pure reservations

In practical terms, what would be the difference between a “downpayment” and a “non-refundable deposit” in the context of a purchase contract that does not allow damages to be assessed on a buyer that backs out, beyond the amount of the “down-payment” or “deposit”? It seems like they are just 2...

Tesla FSD to increase to $15,000.

Yes but no way is the take rate going to be anything close to 50% at $15k. Maybe 5%…10% at best. Cut the price to $3 or $4k then I could possibly see 50% take rate.

Tesla FSD to increase to $15,000.

I would think if they made it $3k they would get at least 10x the take rate vs. $15k pricing. It’s software so deploying to 1M cars vs 100k carries only incremental additional cost. I would think that approach would be better financially.

    EA Rant!

I wouldn’t hold out on being able to access superchargers consistently in the near future. They have a new v4 charger that will accommodate both the Tesla and CCS ports but they won’t start manufacturing until late this year…so may start being deployed Q2 2023 (due to construction and...

    Car completely non-responsive

The crazy thing is an EV doesn’t even need the car to be running to keep the 12v battery maintained- it has a massive high voltage battery that can do that 24/7. Of all cars, EVs should be the least likely to ever have a (relatively new) 12v battery failure Failing 12v batteries seems to have...

    Coolant Leak

If it’s clear, colorless and not oily feeling or smelly, 99.99% it’s AC condensation.

New feature request when driving with full charged SOC

Polestar and Tesla have the option to do as described- basically blending the brakes and regen braking so in theory the user experience is the same whether you are at 10% or 100% SOC. I haven’t experienced either so don’t know how seamless this is, but haven’t seen complaints (although I think...

    New Variant coming....

Not sure - the Rimac Nevera is 1.85 seconds with 1914hp and weighs 4,700lbs. I’m guessing a tri-motor Dream (essentially) would be ~5,400lbs

    Is there a waterfall involved?

[URGENT] $7500 credit for current reservation holders

One thing is for sure, Lucid advisers will be under a lot of pressure from reservation holders to get a delivery date by 12/31/22

What does Drive Drive do today? (not Pro)

If I’m understanding right: -DD-only cars (ie Pures and Tourings that don’t select the DDP option) won’t have Lidar but will still perform all of the DD functions listed on the Lucid website (not the DDP functions). -Lane Departure Protection is not the same as active lane centering. Lucid...

    The final EV qualifiers

I don’t really understand this table. I assume it it reflects only which cars are eligible from the signing of the bill until 12/31/2022. But then why do they list Tesla and GM- they are not eligible as the 200,000 cap remains in place until end of year.

[URGENT] $7500 credit for current reservation holders

I agree that once you get to comparing with other cars that do have the credit it becomes a more significant factor. I don’t think your Y comparison is right though… it starts at $66k from what I can see so it’s really a $5k difference (pre-inflation reduction act) that becomes a $20k...

    New Variant coming....

Hard to say. At a point it comes down to how much friction is available to put the power down. Outside of a prepared drag strip surface and specialty (massively wide) drag strip tires there is going to be a limit on what is possible.

Did Rivian outsource wheel production to Toyota?

In Rivian’s defense the wheel stayed securely attached to the hub. It’s just the suspension that had difficulties.

    Polestar 6

$25,000 deposit. It’s refundable but still there is opportunity cost associated with handing over a deposit that size for 3-4 years. I assume the “regular” version will be more affordable … but perhaps not less than $150k

[URGENT] $7500 credit for current reservation holders

I’m it will be a nice surprise if I ultimately get it. Have my doubts on whether a ~0.375% non refundable deposit on a Pure really meets the intent of the bill. Personally I certainly don’t feel it binds or compells me in any way to go through with the purchase (when my turn eventually comes)...

    New Variant coming....

I think the Pure should be a viable A6 replacement- with the tax credit they are within spitting range price wise (to a high-ish spec A6) and the Pure is only 2” longer/wider (but more spacious inside obv)

    Rivian Q2 earnings

Hitting their target probably means continuing ramping up at least 60% per quarter as follows: Q1: 2500 Q2: 4400 (up 76%) Q3 est.: 7040 (up 60%) Q4 est.: 11,264 (up 60%) TOTAL: 25,204 Quite big steps but I’m pretty sure I heard on the call they have only been running a single shift so far so...
