    EA Megathread

My experience today is very very similar! I've used EA twice in the five months I've owned my Pure just to top up and make sure it works when I need it in the future, very low kWh taken. Today I drove 240 miles over the Cascade Mountains and relied on EA in Leavenworth, Washington. When I told...

I live in Seattle. Progressive insures my Lucid Air Pure (plus three other cars, two motorcycles, my house...) No agent, just website. Progressive dot com. Good luck!

Car Washing...what are your tips and tricks

On my recent road trip from Seattle up to ski at Whistler my Lucid picked up the expected amount of road salt. Coming back through Vancouver I readily found -- touchless automatic car wash. Worked great to get the salt off. Five minutes. I'm unable to find any here in Seattle -- three in areas...

    Winter Tire PSI

I wonder how much the warm tire temperature (steady state on freeway) varies with ambient and road surface temperature. How much colder (and lower pressure) is the air in our tires on a cold winter freeway vs death valley highway? PV = nRT still applies, but I doubt a 100 degree difference in...

    Vancouver: charging on road trip

I regularly drive from Seattle to Whistler, BC to ski, ~240 miles, in the winter, with ~2,000 feet of elevation gain (at the end, of course.) For anyone doing anything like this in an EV for the first time, here's my experience in the last 36 hours. Interstate traffic moved 60-85mph. I'd have...

    Road Trip Efficiency

I will definitely experience sub-10F conditions in the coming months. The route I travel closes seasonally due to avalanches, so the longer route has an EA station about halfway (120 miles.) I'll share here some mi/kWh & range effects as I experience them.

    Road Trip Efficiency

Also - my destination elevation is 2,200' above sea level, 3,277 feet down from the mountain pass, and 2,130' above starting elevation. The reverse trip will use fewer kWh for same 175 mile distance. And I've done this trip four times now, prior three in warmer temperatures, 3.6-3.8 mi/kWh on those.

    Road Trip Efficiency

Yes, thanks for reminder. I started in Seattle at 70 feet above sea level, 38F temperature, 95% charge. (Air Pure AWD.) The car predicted 175 miles range remaining at the destination. I tried to keep my speed between 50-60mph, heated cabin to 70F, music. I drove 175 miles over a 5,477 foot...

    Road Trip Efficiency

I'll report back here tomorrow - I'm driving over two high mountain passes here in Washington, forecast temps <20F at the early morning hours I'm going over them. 74 miles between services. My plan is to charge to 95%, keep speed <60mph (boooooh!), log the kWh/range for many future trips in all...

    I got a flat tire

I ride motorcycles with TPMS that all work exactly the same as @Adnillien described above. My buddies put all their trust in the TPMS but I know those first 100 feet with no TPMS data are hazardous, so I check my motorcycle tires daily before every start, and on all my cars ... visual weekly...

"Practical" range on road trips is about 50% of EPA estimate for most EVs

Me too! Fast and carefree are the normal M.O. and joy of this car. I like to understand the efficiency envelope for the rare situation where I may find myself needing to go farther on whatever charge I have at the time. I think most of us have encountered this with gasoline-powered cars at one...

"Practical" range on road trips is about 50% of EPA estimate for most EVs

Here's a good article explaining the velocity-squared term. There are many more. If you have a credible article showing cubed please share. https://lambdageeks.com/drag-coefficient-and-velocity/

"Practical" range on road trips is about 50% of EPA estimate for most EVs

I think it's the square of mph not the cube (an aeronautical engineer corrected me once) but the point is solid, go slower to go farther on the same fuel or charge. I've read that most cars' most aerodynamically (and fuel-) efficient speed is ~40-50mph. I wonder how that applies to the Air with...

    Massive insurance premium increase

I put Safeco on my "never again" list after a rear bumper to rear bumper where they did not stand behind me their insured at all. I took the other driver to small claims court, won full damages and court costs, fired Safeco and never look back. The traffic laws are clear -- and to me so is...

    TPMS alert for 3 wheels?

Thanks to this thread, I realized I haven't ever checked the tire pressure, in the 12 weeks I've owned mine. Just checked it. All four tires were 42 psi. Door jamb sticker says 49 psi is the target. Allow 1 psi for ambient temp being 60F so all four are six psi low. Glad I checked. The 19" aero...

Play Dolby Atmos tracks in Surreal Sound Pro

OK my 90-day SSP trial is in its last 30 days so I started the Tidal trial, found ~50 atmos tracks there, sampled in my Air... clouds parted, angels sang, this is truly excellent. I'm now hoping Lucid eventually responds to my request (week before last) to price my SSP upgrade from $4,500 down...

Anyone Interested in a Lucid Weekend Taking The Cascade Loop in 2023?

I took delivery of my Pure AWD in July. I have a house in the Methow Valley, have driven the Lucid twice over Highway 20 with extremely good luck during the openings between fires shifting. In the 27 years I've been visiting the Methow, I've seen large parades of Corvettes, BMW's, Porsches...

    Lucid performance

That's amazingly awesome. My state (Washington) patrol commented that "speed differential" is a major cause of serious accidents, i.e. anytime you're in the left lane (could be HOV), whenever your speed is ~40mph greater than traffic in adjacent lane, high risk of serious accident. Nightmare is...

    BMW Vision Neue Klass EV

I wish them the most from their "crisp athletic look." My own ethos overlaps barely: if it gets even a few vehicle buyers to stop buying fossil fuels, OK then. I want more like the Aptera ---- OK if you MUST move your 200lb body 3 miles to buy just a loaf of bread, do it in the least wasteful...
