    Tri-Motor 1/4 mile

Yes, this was what I was alluding to. My own narrative is that Rawlinson has long seemed driven and motivated to prove he is the better EV builder- reclaiming what he should have achieved with the Model S. I viewed this as a positive- a true car engineer undoing some of the cost-cutting and...

    Tri-Motor 1/4 mile

I think you bring up an important dichotomy. Lucid needs to have EV tech that competes with the best. But the cost to develop elite EV tech seems to be at a level in which those that that will compromise for performance can not afford. Lucid is a new EV. What is their initial path to success...

    Tri-Motor 1/4 mile

Right. They seem to be more going for “a better, more expensive Tesla” than the S Class of EVs. With nascent tech, cutting edge tech, value is tough. With Tesla’s being 100k, I guess if they’re better spec, better appointed Tesla’s, you quickly hit $150 without true luxury

Lucid’s Tri-Motor Retakes Tesla’s Plaid Record at Laguna Seca

Thanks for posting! That is what I hoped, and feared. It’s going to be amazing, close to roadster 2.0 price, and a conundrum.

    Tri-Motor Air?

Good point. I could stand the black a lot more if not for the premium statin aluminum top.

    Tri-Motor Air?

Am I guilty of the Osborne effect in thinking I should wait? Given I can’t drive/get a Dream until Q2, in colors I don’t like, I don’t think waiting another couple quarters is too irrational. But then there’s the Roadster and possible Porsche releases soon after. For perhaps less. I love the...

Lucid Air Configurator Does Not Reveal Packages And Extras Pricing

Not to make this a bigger deal than it is, but I do find this a contradiction. The Dream, the top trim of a new manufacturer branding themselves as the EV S Class, was designed to maximize performance, range, and efficiency? That’s great, but it cannot be at the expense of basic luxury car...

Lucid Air Configurator Does Not Reveal Packages And Extras Pricing

I may be in denial, but I wonder if anyone knows for sure. It’s not a deal breaker to me personally, but I fear to not have it on the Dream edition is indicative of a failed attempt of luxury EV. More luxurious than the S? I’d hope so, but the backseat in the YouTube video is what I’d expect...

The car that the reporter described as having afterburners?

Lucid Air Configurator Does Not Reveal Packages And Extras Pricing

This articulated my hesitation. Yes, value shopping is out the window when in this price range, but I don’t want to feel swindled either. $30k is a steep markup to stomach just a corked motor. And they’re still possibly sandbagging in order to facilitate OTA freemiums. I’m not sure I’d feel...

    Tri-Motor Air?

9.3?!? Only $30k more and I can get one of the quickest cars ever?

Lucid Air Configurator Does Not Reveal Packages And Extras Pricing

Misleading, or at very least, sloppy. Even more, you’re left to cobble together what the specs are for a $170k from pictures and bullet points across several generic releases. I admit I’m impatient and everything will be cleared up eventually, but perhaps they did a 12/1 release on 9/9.

The 2021 Lucid Air Is Convincingly Ready For Action

I’m a bit dumbfounded by this. I would understand better if no Air trim had the footwells. To belabor, in ICE cars, cars that prioritize mpg over nearly everything else don’t get premiums, they’re economy cars. Yes, charging is annoying on road-trips, hence more batteries means range is a...

The 2021 Lucid Air Is Convincingly Ready For Action

Somewhat counterintuitive that the premium edition has less rear cabin comfort. But it’s consistent with my frustration that the range chase is so coupled to the premium. Another 5 years and I suspect that to not be the case.

    Tri-Motor Air?

Honestly, I’d be shocked if they were not sandbagging. OTA updates? Porsche like “underpromise, overdeliver”? Product differentiation with their Tri?

    Battery Subscription and Swapping?

I was thinking about how the need for range in a small portion of my car’s utilization means car manufacturers need to skimp on other aspects I value more 90% of the time. Would battery subscription and swapping mitigate that? Charging speed improvements (with less degrading batteries) and...

Exclusive First Look | 2021 Lucid Air Dream Edition

I’m a little surprised a hatchback compromises torsional rigidity to such a degree greater than lacking a lateral roof rail over the windshield. But I’m admittedly ignorant. I do like the look the removal of the rail provides, but they’ve got to finish it by figuring out how to hang sun visors...

Lucid Air’s interior colors are an ode to California’s natural beauty

I’m getting the impression that selling well in California is important, no? Maybe if all of us Floridians buy the Dream, we can get a color named for our beautiful beaches.

Exclusive First Look | 2021 Lucid Air Dream Edition

I can imagine for a new company there’s an element of never being “ready” for these things. 2020 hasn’t helped either. But to not have answers and some possibly pending changes, would suggest Lucid is embracing the Silicon Valley tech startup approach to cars. They’re a California company, as...
