Lucid Has Other Car Companies Shooting For Them

And there is no way of knowing these folks voluntarily quit. Lucid needed a shake-up in Arizona. This was it.

Lucid Has Other Car Companies Shooting For Them

Competition is good for business., but fighting Lucid with a bigger and even heavier version of the Taycan may not be their best move.

    $8 BILLION cash grab

Lucid announced a year ago that they expected to raise cash in mid-'23. Factories don't build themselves. If you are an investor the only thing you have to worry about is why you didn't do due diligence, because this is exactly how startups grow.

    171 MPH?

Anybody here who enjoys driving "with gusto" should spend a weekend at an on-track driving school. These are classes that teach driving closer to the limit, not racing school. You come away much more prepared to deal with public road urgent situations, and much more prepared if you choose to...

    171 MPH?

At that speed the sudden reflex swerve can be as deadly as the critter, unless it's a moose, of course.

    171 MPH?

Looks real. Handling in any car is different at speed. 171mph is 251 feet per second. Encountering debris or an animal in the road at NASCAR speed at night leaves little margin to avoid disaster.

Scary! But I finally tried it! AUTO-PARK!

I am fairly sure that the Tesla parking failure is rooted in the company's AI approach. It appears that Tesla eschews hard rules for the AI, instead making it freshly calculate every move. The pedestrian interference issue highlights this. In a rules environment pedestrians detected in the out...

Scary! But I finally tried it! AUTO-PARK!

I have not actually used my AGT's self-parking. I have had this feature on other cars but very rarely used it. I guess I should give it a try. Here is a recent video out of the UK demonstrating the self-parking performance of Audi, BMW, Ford, and Tesla.

Lucid filed for a new offering of up to $8 billion

EBITDA is always a fuzzy number at best. Cash flow and staying funded is all that matters to a young company. Expenses on startup always exceed projection. We know vendor and parts problems have added cost, but as long as they can stay on track, or close to it, on cash flow they'll be fine...

Lucid filed for a new offering of up to $8 billion

I find casual and uninformed finance discussions frustrating and generally try to avoid engaging. It seems that very few have bothered to read Lucid's business plan, not just here, but in the professional community. Building a global brand in automobile manufacturing is costly and takes an...

Lucid filed for a new offering of up to $8 billion

PIF is the largest shareholder. If they feel the need to inject more cash themselves they could either buy some of these shares or lend cash through their line of credit. These shares could also be used to redeem existing or future convertible bonds issued by Lucid.

Lucid filed for a new offering of up to $8 billion

Growth. Lucid will be raising funds over the next several years (the shares registered today can be sold at any time over the next 3 years, but are not being sold today). Lucid is building an entire car company from scratch, factories, distribution networks, showrooms, service centers, while...

Lucid filed for a new offering of up to $8 billion

[sigh] This is not an offering. It is registration of new shares that may be offered at any time over the next 3 years. These shares or some portion of them may be offered to the public or used in other fundraising efforts. Read the S-3 for yourself. All OEMs are investing billions building EV...

    sport driving experience

About 60% at beginning. I don't recall the end. I reset a trip meter before one spirited 10-ish mile run and got about 1.6 m/kWh, better than I expected.

    sport driving experience

Sprint, yes, I kept the TC on full since this was my first stab at speed in this car. My goal was just to start probing the car's handling. I don't want to find the limit until I can get on a real track with real runoffs, but I want to avoid the typical track-day red-mist crew and have some...

    sport driving experience

On track you drive at the limit of traction. The brake pedal allows the driver to meter in controlled amounts of negative acceleration, especially important when trail braking into corners. Regen adds an arbitrary amount of braking that varies with the battery's charge level and temperature...

    sport driving experience

I finally got a chance to air our the Air today. 2,000 miles in and this has been my first opportunity to "visit my private road in Bolivia". Definitely turn the regen to low (off would be better) to avoid messing up corner entry. Once settled into a turn the grip is amazing for a car of this...

    Number of GT's Ordered

Lucid is holding all of it's details closely. The introduction of the GT Performance has likely changed the picture. Hopefully we get some insight during the Q2 earnings call.
