    Potential new Lucid Air Owner

Welcome to the forum. Charge last 5-6 weeks? Naw...trust me, you will invent excuses to drive the car. My wife is now taking advantage of the fact that I LOVE running errands for her in my Lucid. Just to get out and drive it. I am certain I am not alone in that.

US carmakers should be terrified, including Lucid

It's because they tend to have more outlets per site.

Lucid (allegedely) hires AlixPartners as part of restructuring.

Alix Partners is more than a "bankruptcy specialist". They have strong corporate restructuring and automotive consulting teams in their practice. I have worked with and competed against Alix Partners automotive consultants, usually in relation to startup EV companies. NDA prevents me from...

Sideswiped my garage door frame this morning. Insurance vs. Out-of-pocket + DFW shop recs?

Interesting. I am in Michigan which historically has the highest rates in the country. Progressive told me they could not underwrite my AGT. Several independent brokers who handle multiple companies also no-quoted me. I asked one of them why the no-quote. His agency mainly sourced customers to...

Sideswiped my garage door frame this morning. Insurance vs. Out-of-pocket + DFW shop recs?

In a sense that is already the case, though not due to the repair cost. When I was shopping for insurance I received no-quotes from a number of independent insurance brokers and very specifically from Progressive. The issue was 819 hp. I'm in my 60s with an empty nest household, so go figure.

Sideswiped my garage door frame this morning. Insurance vs. Out-of-pocket + DFW shop recs?

Yeah, that bumper probably needs to be replaced. That piece just above the sensor has a crack that ain't gonna go away. Unless you can live with some residual effect of the crack being visible after the paint repair it would seem like an insurance claim / Lucid repair.

Sideswiped my garage door frame this morning. Insurance vs. Out-of-pocket + DFW shop recs?

Can't tell if there's any paint damage or denting to the body panels. Looks like it just needs to clip back in. Curb rash on the wheel seems to be the worst bit. I'd go to a local wheel specialist and have it reconditioned. Probably a couple hundred bucks out of pocket. From the picture I'd...

The Corvette ZR1X, Mustang GTD, Lucid Air Sapphire, and Czinger 21C prove America’s best performance cars are better than ever

It gets even better. Take the original (4) cars and add Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Tesla Model 3 Performance Tesla Cyberbeast Rivian R1T Quad Motor and do both a 1/4 mile and a 1/2 mile drag race. What we have here is a very diverse competitor group. (4) Electric Vehicles (4) gasoline powered...

    Pilot Panel Trip registers

Fun Fact: The Since Last Charge and Trip A / Trip B trackers operate differently. Trip A and Trip B keep track of miles travelled and energy used while traveling. Since Last Charge tracks all energy usage since the last charge. So in the picture below you can see that I've driven 51.2 miles...

    Question on using Cross Bars

I did the seats down / tires off through the trunk thing a few times. Thing is, we have a family trip coming up where I will have two bikes to transport and four people in the car. Came down to take the Tesla (with tow hitch) or get the cross bar set up.

    It's Tire Time!!

Just sealed the deal. Option 1, Pirelli P Zero AS Plus NCS Elect. Very similar to the P Zero AS Plus Elect that are original equipment. The NCS is to denote noise cancelling foam in the tire. I did a side-by-side spec assessment of the OE tires, the Michelin PS4S and the ones I'm buying. The...

    It's Tire Time!!

Varies by model and wheel size. Ironically, our 2023 Model Y 20" wheels came with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric Electric M+S. Couldn't be more different than the Eagle F1 Asymmetrics that came on the Camaro. Different tread patterns, different compound, do great in wet and snow.

    It's Tire Time!!

I could tell you stories about this. Remember, I used to work at an OEM and spent time with vehicle teams working out powertrain content as they prepared vehicles for launch. The tire on the vehicle at launch was typically determined by a combination of factors and more about how they weighted...

    It's Tire Time!!

Thought about the Hankook's but I've seen a number of posts in Tesla threads where people who installed them were surprised at the road noise difference compared to the OE tire. Given that and the fact that they are significantly more pricey ($1,284) than my other choices, I kinda stepped away...

Thinking about buying a used Air, how can I tell how the previous owner charged it?

If the car was purchased new with free charging for 1 - 3 years at ElectrifyAmerica I'd lay odds that this is how they charged it. DCFC whenever possible.

    It's Tire Time!!

Discount Tire has an estimate of tire life and miles / dollar included with each tire recommendation. Useful and hilarious. Useful: My two options have tire life estimates of 2 years 6 months and 3 years 4 months. Miles per dollar are 127 and 171. Hilarious: One of the "recommendations" has a...

    It's Tire Time!!

Baby needs a new pair o'shoes (2 pair, actually). I think I've narrowed it down to 2.5 options. Pirelli PZero AS Plus 3 NCS Electric ($1,164 for the set) Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 ($1,168 for the set) Option 2.5 is to go for the OE tire: Pirelli PZero AS Plus Electric ($1,532 for the...
