Hello,

Since owning the Gravity for about 2 months, I had to change the key fob battery twice because I get a notification on my phone that the battery needs to be replaced.

Anyone else having this issue?

Have you updated your fob to the latest software? This is done through your Lucid phone app.

Yes I have. I am on version 2.35.13.

I just found another detailed thread on this forum discussing the same issue. But I am not sure if a problem is fixed.

Unless you are constantly jiggling your key fob, I'd guess it isn't working correctly.

I've only replaced the fob battery once since I got the car last December, and this was when there were a lot of software issues with the fob. Not sure it actually needed to be replaced. Do you keep your fob in your pocket all day, or do you put the keys somewhere when you're home?

Usually in my pocket when driving or at work. Also note that my office is a few meters 15-20 meters) from my car and when I am home, the key is in a cabinet about 10 meters from my car. I am not sure if these short distances are making the key fob and car communicate.

I'd suggest trying a faraday bag or box to store it in. My key is close enough to the car that early on when I'd walk by it was enough to shake the key and wake it and I could hear the Gravity unlock. Since I got a faraday box it's been fine and I've only replaced my battery once since December.

Thanks for the suggestion. I might actually give it a try.

Here is the Faraday pouch I use at home and at my office:

Other than inserting a new battery when I first got the car I have not had to replace my fob battery since I took delivery last March

Ah, more fob problems. The worst failure point on this car.

I'm installing new batteries monthly. No noticeable improvement on mine.

Lucid service gave me the oft-repeated "it's normal for the car to take up to 40 seconds to wake up and see the fob" response. Sure, that's normal.

I second that suggestion. I think you are too close to your car and it is constantly activating. A bag for work and home should extend your battery life (and also reduce your car's phantom drain).

If I used the Faraday pouch, will the car be able to unlock if I got near it, or do I have to remove it from the pouch?

You do need to remove it when you are going to use it

Yeah, you leave the pouch at your home and office. Take the fob out when leaving, put it in when arriving.

Of course, as long as you just leave the key far enough away, you don't need to mess with a Faraday pouch. All the pouch does is block the signal so it's not communicating with the car, but distance does the same thing.

For me that's only about 15 feet away inside the door to my garage. I just hang it on a coat hook by the door. That's far enough way with a wall in between. It never triggers the car from there (even when I open the door to the garage). Although perhaps that's because my fob sucks. I'm not sure if that's a normal distance for everyone else.

I just got in the habit of hanging the key on the wall so it doesn't lock/unlock when I walk into the garage for something else. Or worse, doing work in the garage where it's locking/unlocking over and over when I keep walking near the car.

The pouch basically encloses the fob in metal so no UWB signal can get in or go out so the fob "goes to sleep" and doesn't use any energy thus prolonging the battery life.
I leave the pouch hanging on the hook in our kitchen where we keep other keys and slip it in when I enter my house. I have a second pouch in my desk drawer in my office. Both of these locations are close enough to where I park the car where some communication with the fob may otherwise occur.
