Lucid accelerator

Do Lucid cars have some kind of a "black box" or Event Data Recorder (EDR) for this type of the events? Many cards do these days

I will try to see if I can attached the video here. Here the link to the video in YouTube
That is pretty scary. I’m glad nobody got seriously hurt. The video shows what happened, but not why it happened.

There is clearly a burst of speed at the beginning of the video as the vehicle was approaching the gate. One would normally press the brake to slow down at that point, but instead, it looks like the accelerator pedal was pressed. The sudden acceleration instead of deceleration could have led to a panic reaction. From AI summary:

How Panic Causes This Specific Chain of Events
  • The Initial Error (Pedal Misapplication): A driver accidentally presses the accelerator instead of the brake. This happens most frequently during sudden maneuvers, parking, or when a driver is already slightly distracted or flustered.
  • The "Panic Loop" and Cognitive Tunneling: When the car suddenly speeds up unexpectedly, the brain experiences a massive shock. Instead of re-evaluating their foot placement, the panicked driver's brain registers: "I am pressing the brake as hard as I can, but the car is going faster!" In this state of extreme panic, the driver often presses down even harder on the wrong pedal.
  • Losing Steering Awareness: Under severe stress, a person's field of vision narrows to a "tunnel." They become completely blind to their surroundings and their own actions (like the fact that they are turning the steering wheel or driving in a circle). Their entire cognitive capacity is trapped in the terror of the car accelerating.
  • The Crash: The driver remains locked in this state, flooring the accelerator and steering erratically, until an external force—like hitting a wall—forces the vehicle to a stop. Only after the impact does the adrenaline drop enough for the driver to realize what actually happened.
(Substitute flooring the accelerator with lifting off the accelerator but not fully)

I’m not saying this is what happened, but we have to entertain this possibility, in addition to an actual problem with the car.

This has been discussed in length on FB.

I am not sure if it was the quality of the surveillance video but it appears the brake light was never on.
After I enquired with OP several times, she said she didn't use the brake.

I don't know why the car accelerated, but rolling forward is possible if its set in Creep mode and/or Regen off.

Yesterday around 10am I was going to pick up a friend from a car shop, I used my lucid navigation to follow the address, when I got there I went to to business next door because the address took me there. When I noticed I was at the wrong business, in my mind the goal was to park somewhere and make a u turn. Out of nowhere the car started to accelerate without control, i tried press to break petal nothing work, I let go of the petal nothing work and I decided to put the car on park it was accelerate left and right from want to street to another. It hit bushes and the car still didn't stopped. After I gave up knowing the car would have just takes my life. And suddenly it got back on the road and cross the road and hit the wall and stopped. It was like something you watched in movies. Thank God, it wasn't rushed hour, no one got hurt. And I got out with minors injuries. I have a video as well but unfortunately I can't post here. Please I need an advice how to go about this View attachment 41170
A very similar thing happened to me yesterday, while attempting to park. Different circumstances cause me to believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I did NOT press the accelerator instead of the brake. I am going to post pictures and, yes, will contact Lucid for the logs.

Yes. I just had a similar experience yesterday. But Lucid certified body shop said all you'll get are graphs that will not say what was depressed and when, etc. I'm going to make a full post here about it.

What circumstances? In every single study on this, and anecdotally, people are always absolutely certain they never touched the accelerator.

I am not saying you’re wrong; I’m just wondering what “different circumstances” make it “beyond a shadow of a doubt.”
