Eric Bach, fired Chief Engineer, sues!

Any lawyer worth their weight can write a good complaint; it doesnt mean it is true. The discovery process and depositions should be interesting. Bach will be very lucky to work anywhere else. IMO I think some of it is covering his incompetency with blaming the 'toxic work environment' which may or may not be true. What I find ridiculous about it all, is bacj is a high level executive and a white male. if he was a lower level employee and a woman and minority group he would have a much stronger play. Good luck buddy!

This. It’s the incompetence that worries me, far beyond the topic of what’s offensive or not. Though that’s bad too, obviously.
This is the aspect that worries me as well. We all discussed in these forums when Peter left that it would be a bad sign when others, such as Bach, leave. While Emad is amazing, I worry about his growing portfolio, which might be stretching him super thin. We all probably have done this at our workplaces - I have taken on more, and I have asked people I lead to take on more, but it was all stopgap arrangements. But given how long Mark has been interim, it doesn’t give me much confidence.

My genuine question to admins and other knowledgeable members here. Were these people just figureheads, and is the engineering talent at Lucid intact, or are they bleeding critical talent to remain an engineering powerhouse? Is it time for us to really start worrying about a company we love, given everything that is going on, including botched Gravity rollout, software troubles, and missing features that were committed, such as V2H?

Most of the major folks who have left have been on the engineering side.

Midsize is done, as far as engineering and design goes.

The real test is going to be software, production, and service. Lucid can get away with a year or two of having less engineering talent, in other words. What they need right now is to step up those other three areas in a big way. As we’ve seen, the best engineered car in the world doesn’t stand a chance without those three things executing well.

So my worry isn’t about who has left. It’s about who is going to step up.

This. I couldn’t have said this better.

There has been a lot of exceptional talent that has exited Lucid. Mike Bell, Peter, Eric, Derrick, Margaret, Eric, and so on.

But there is also a lot of exceptional talent still there. And winning isn’t exclusively about engineering talent, though Lucid definitely wishes it were. :p

I gotta say: someone leaves a company and is mad at the HR person is not that juicy? Wake me up when it isn’t whining about HR.
At every company I've worked, HR was an easy target for criticism. They generally deserved it. You'd think the opposite would be true, given their purported mission.

So true

Just one correction… I worked for Steve Jobs… He was far from an arrogant asshole. In fact, he was by far the most inspiring leader I’ve ever worked with.

And trust me… There was no one at Lucid who was 1/1000000 as effective as Steve Jobs…
I don’t think there’s any current leader in the same league as Mr Jobs

Actually, HR has to follow regulatory requirements, follow the law, make sure legal problems don’t arise. They are not there to protect the employees at any cost. They are there to protect the company.

Interesting that we’ve apparently decided the case and Lucid lost.
And yes a company will let someone go if that someone thinks they are irreplaceable. No one is irreplaceable, consider if someone dies, irreplaceable, not so. I’ve seen people moved out because they didn’t fit but thought they were god’s gift. Don’t ever think you can’t be replaced.
