Air Pure vs Grand Touring in 2026

Interestingly, the Lucid Tracker stats show the Touring with higher overall efficiency as well, which I find surprising, of the numbers are relatively representative.
Are those Pure the actually efficiency king RWD 2025+ ones? Otherwise the rest will be lower.

People drive differently.
Um, yes. But over a large enough population across all the models (I don't know if the tracker has enough data to be statistically significant across models), I would think they would start to converge on a "real world" efficiency baseline that is fairly representative across the models.

I believe the Pure or even the Touring are the smarter, more practical choices. However, I’ve rationalized that if I’m going to spend a ridiculously stupid amount of money to get from Point A to Point B, why not make an extra ridiculously stupid decision and go all the way on features that cannot pass any reasonable cost-benefit muster?

I use Gemini Pro nearly daily for research and analysis of various topics. It knows me pretty well—i.e., it has the information necessary to “understand” that I am fiscally conservative, environmentally conscientious, obsessed with efficiency, and… like nice things when it’s the “right” (practical) nice thing.

Gemini says quite conclusively I should get the Pure, but I’ve order the GT instead. Gemini has now decided that I’m an idiot, and it’s difficult for me to defend that sentiment. LOL!
Tell Gemini that us humans only live once. Get the GT so long that it has every single option. It’s not worth spending that much more only to cut a small corner on an option you’ll wish you had.

I love that this car has so many expressions. For me, the Touring was always going to be the perfect balance (though I still long for those massage seats) between power and comfort. But I totally get why Pure owners love their Pures. It is a different experience driving the RWD version for sure.

Even between the GT and Touring, there's a clear weight difference that can be felt. And a clear power difference when you stomp on that accelerator, to be sure.

To me, you can't go wrong with any Air, so long as you choose the version that suits your driving style and preferences.

I just passed 10,000 miles in my 2026 Air Pure. I love it. While it was in for service for about 3 1/2 weeks, I had a Touring loner. While my Pure has the convenience package, SS Pro, and twenty-way seats, the Touring had zero options. I got to know the Touring really well, including a trip from the San Francisco Bay Area to Los Angeles and back. I took 101 to Los Angeles and the coast route back. I much prefer the pure. It’s about 450 pounds lighter and I can really feel the difference. And it is quieter. The Pure’s acceleration isn’t as quick as the Touring, but it still quite impressive. My experience, and terms of efficiency, they are about comparable. The entire 800 mile roundtrip to Los Angeles in the Touring gave me 4.01 m/kwh. I took a shot of my Pure’s pilot screen at 10,000 miles. Here’s how it looked. 19 inch AeroNaut wheels

That’s some numbers
Hey folks anyone else hitting 4m/kw ?

Who are the Pure owners only just barely getting 3 mi/kWh? I'm averaging 4.1 mi/kWh in my 2024 over 28K miles. Almost all of those are freeway miles at over 70 mph.

It might also have to do with wheel size, which the tracker doesn't seem to track. Maybe to many Pure drivers being tracked got the 20/21" wheels?

Sorry, this is what I meant; I don’t know (and I don’t think) there is enough data there to be statistically significant. I wasn’t trying to be glib.

This is mine also (lifetime efficiency). Live in Canada so basically in the arctic during winter. 21s in the summer, 19s in the winter. I'm at 4.9km/kwh in the lifespan of the vehicle..so slightly less but very similar.

I just wish they would offer DDPro on Pures. Then I'd be in.

This is an air touring, in southern Maine, through 20 months of ownership. So two winters, two summers.

19 inch wheels, probably 5-6000 highway miles (70-75mph mostly), and a lot of miles on ideal efficiency open rural roads at 45-60mph. But also plenty of lower efficiency, short local trips.

So within about 10% of the EPA rating (4.45), and summer often closer to 5%, as in Trip A, most recent. Winter more like 3.5-3.8, so 20-25% hit, as expected.

Can anyone who has spent significant time driving both compare the regenerative braking in the Pure RWD versus the Touring? I currently have a Pure AWD, which has a drivetrain similar to the Touring. I really enjoy its strong regen and almost one-pedal driving dynamics in most situations.

It’s now time to lease or buy another Lucid, and I’m considering a Pure RWD. Would I noticeably miss the stronger regenerative braking or overall driving feel of my AWD Pure?

I would suggest that you go test drive one.

I did at one time, but the Pure had full charge so regen was very light.. Even my AWD has less regen with a full charge. Just curious to get feedback from those with more time behind wheel...

It's definitely noticeable, it still comes to full stop easy and smooth but you don't get any head toss. Because its RWD the full regen is the same as standard in Touring Smooth mode at best, maybe even standard on the Touring's swift mode which is also a level below. This is primarily done for stability in low traction like snow, but you won't have that problem. I think there are more tradeoffs however, lots less options on new Pure from feature standpoint.
