In that case, what are the lotto numbers? Asking for a friend.

My point, albeit sarcastically made, is that your entire conjecture is about as correct as literally any other conjecture, which is to say… nothing other than a complete guess.

So, I predict that within the next 3 years you end up living in Sweden. Seems just as likely, since I’m basing that on a lot of assumptions I have no evidence for. :)

There’s nothing wrong with making a decision because you’re concerned about the longevity of the company.

But implying that you know for sure what the next 3 years holds for Lucid or literally almost any other company is a fool’s errand, imho.

It only takes reading a P&L, CF, and B/S to get to that. Not much.

Reading a P&L/CF/B/S tells you where things stand today, not what the story assumes going forward. Lucid’s burn was never supposed to be sustainable at Air & Gravity only volumes, that’s the whole point of needing Midsize to hit the cost structure for profitability. Anyone glancing at trailing financials will see red ink, that’s true of every automaker mid-scale-up.

What the statements don’t capture is that the PIF isn’t a passive investor waiting to bail, Lucid plays a pivotal part of Saudi Vision 2030, with real infrastructure built around that mandate. They have runway into 2027, and the real question is whether Midsize hits its targets when released, not whether the cash runs out next quarter.

“Acquired or bust, no in between” is a clean story but doesn’t give the full context.

If that were all it took to predict the future, many more people would be far richer.

You are interpreting the present and trying to extrapolate the future from that. However, that is never how startups work. Lucid either will or won’t hit an inflection point. It hasn’t yet.

Your numbers and arithmetic have extremely little bearing on whether they will.

And, to be clear: I am not suggesting they are a guaranteed success, a likely success, or anything else. I am not assigning probabilities, because I am not Nostradamus.

I am, however, implying there is nuance, and that your binary distinction is nonsense.

You can‘t grow into the cost structure with gross margins negative, not to mention -105% negative. Worth reading the transcript of Q2.

And the sheiks are not exactly known for investment acumen. Or patience.

High growth businesses are always negative margin at the beginning, especially when they have massive cap ex costs. An automotive business is one such example. What you are describing is simply a startup that has not hit its growth inflection point yet.

The PIF’s net profit more than doubled in 2025 compared to 2024. And the PIF has been quite patient with many of their investments, including Lucid.

Do you have evidence? Or just feelings? :)

The PIF’s net profit more than doubled in 2025 compared to 2024. And the PIF has been quite patient with many of their investments, including Lucid.

PIF grew AuM by 1.3% in 2025 and returns have been 7%pa since 2017. I don‘t think that something to write home about, in particular when you consider their market power. And yes, they ran out of patience with LIV. Doesn‘t mean that they will drop it like LIV. They would hate to forego auto manufacturing in Saudi.

Those are decent returns for that time period. Reminder this is a sovereign wealth fund, not literally a VC firm.

Eh, I think they were simply overstretched by LIV and it wasn’t helping their reputation as much as they would have hoped it would.

Auto manufacturing is not the same.
 
AIR GT Lease expiring this month, was going to purchase and even upgraded the CPU. Just decided to punt it and lease a new Gravity GT for three years and avoid ownership. Gut feeling is the Air will be a back burner after thought with all the focus only going to lines of profitability for the foreseeable future. Just hope Gravity comes through with point to point L2++ as "promised"

make sure you get the Dream Drive 2 Pro is L2++ is what you really want.

I also upgraded the CPU on my Air GT about two months before I decided to let it go for a Gravity. A gift to its next owner, don't regret it.
 
Hello everyone. Finally made the decision to order a MY2026 Gravity Touring with almost all the options. Couldn't find a GGT anymore with all options. Really excited to get into a Gravity and experience the car. Got the Green color with platinum, Ojai seats, 7 seater, tech, convenience, dynamic handling, 20/21 wheels, DD Pro2, towing. Moving from a Range Rover Autobiography so the ride during test drive feels like it is better than Tesla model x but much less compared to RR. Glad to see here that most of the initial issues are now resolved.

Was planning on purchasing instead of leasing. haven't decided yet. Was worried about Lucid going under but hoping they would actually become a mainstream brand (vs a niche brand).

On Friday, I placed an order for a 2026 Air GT. I’m leaning toward leasing for two reasons: (1) There was no AGT inventory with DD Pro and (2) the incentive for a cash purchase is paltry compared to the lease incentive.

I’m rationalizing that, when my lease is up, a new and improved AGT with a better version of DreamDrive will be available.
 
Would love to lease a Touring for my wife but it’s still a little more than I want to pay. Seems the 699/mo with 5k+ down is the best you can get right now. If they had that deal with 2-3k down it would be more palatable to me. They also don’t have much of anything in stock in that basic config to get that advertised price.
 
Ya, but if the car is totaled you're out the 5grand or 3K you put down...better to put zero down and add those costs to your monthly payment over the length of the lease and let them take it from you more slowly

This. Believe me, you're paying for it whichever route you go down. Buy down capitalized cost or pay it over time. Using 7% interest cost, if you leave it in a money market at 4 (both numbers rounded up), you're out 3 percentage points ON THE DOWN PAYMENT AMOUNT. If you're keeping the down payment in your investment portfolio, SO FAR you're ahead of the 7% ON THE DOWN PAYMENT.

Given so many variables tied to an early production car, I chose to pay as I go - at the end of the lease I'll tell you what I should have done. But, alas, that will have the advantage of hindsight, with which some of the members here would have used to forgo the "early adopter strategy" given their experiences.

I like MSDs when you have a high interest lease. It has most of the advantages of cap cost reduction, but you get the money back and there is no risk.

Makes sense with a high lease rate.

If the high lease rate is due to creditworthiness, perhaps I shouldn't be taking on that lease. And, the MSD is reducing your interest cost, however it is still not earning anything that it would be if it was still in your hands.

It's why each case is SO individual-specific. As a financial guy, it's the fun part of any financial decision. Estimates have to be made, comfort levels have to be met and financial realities have to be satisfied.

There is no best case - at least, not until the transaction is over and you can analyze which route would have been best.

Make sure you can sleep at night - that's the best test for making a financial decision. Life is to be enjoyed, not worried about.
