Finally. I could not support this action more.

Do not cosplay as a journalist. If you’re a tabloid, be a tabloid - but do not pretend you are posting facts when you aren’t.

Post opinions! All you want! Call it a blog! Whatever.

But if you pretend to be a journalist, you have to not post explicit libel. Verify your sources. It’s really that simple.

I was surprised that the expected damages are only 500K Euro. Different from litigation in the USA.

From Gemini: “In Germany, libel and defamation damages are handled under civil law via the "general right of personality" (allgemeines Persönlichkeitsrecht). Payouts for non-material harm (Schmerzensgeld) are generally modest compared to US standards, typically ranging from €5,000 to €30,000 for moderate-to-serious violations, though exceptional high-profile cases can reach hundreds of thousands of euros.”

They also have to send a formal C&D (which they did), and they must file a preliminary injunction within 4 to 6 weeks (which they did).

They can also sue for actual/material damages, since it did in fact hurt the stock (and thus, the shareholders, reputation, etc.)
