It was a concept vehicle. Always.
 
I think this version is bad ass - the white with blue accents looks great and who has an issue with 1070 hp?

Take the win - this is a layup for Lucid and they need a few of those.

Wonder how much money they wasted on it. A good example of what not to do when your gross margins are 100% negative. What were they thinking?
 
Probably not much. Likely no calibration (traction control, abs, stability control, spring rates, shocks, etc). Slapping different rims and tires and raising the ride height cost very little.

Not sure why people feel the need to constantly bad mouth the former management. They did both good and bad. Were right for some phases of the company's development and wrong for others. The company has moved on so should we.

Fair point. I recall Lucid uses the actuators to change the toe-in/toe-out depending on vehicle height, so I do wonder how much an independent motor to each wheel can compensate for the lack of toe-in and toe-out adjustability

It no big deal to them yall! Car manufacturers have been doing this FOREVER. Put a slightly different tune, put some badging and coloring and stitching and call it a different trim. Takes next to nothing to implement for them. Some will buy it, most likely won't but it won't cost them any more than their other units. They didn't waste massive resources on it. It's a good move IMO for them.

Design studies take place all the time. It's not like a concept car had to go through homologation and crash testing. If anything they're made of clay, fibreglass, etc. All of which are cheaper to machine, sculpt, mold, and wrap
 
No brake upgrade is kind of shameful here. This is essentially the DE without the options + some decals, which overall feels kind of lazy.....

The brakes are fine, what it really needs is a proper tire. I should have a solution within a month :-)

And while obviously that can include a track car, I think performance covers much more than just lap time on a race track. I'm betting on a Sapphire Gravity being announced, but I think it's possible for that vehicle to take everything about an SUV to the limit, and not just repeat what they did with the Air. I even think it's possible that the Gravity X concept is a preview of what a Gravity Sapphire would be.

One of the impressive things about a Sapphire Air how it mixes insane track performance with being a vehicle you can happily use as a daily driver as well. I used to drive a Jeep Wrangler, which was incredibly capable off-road, but was objectively terrible on-road. If Lucid can turn the Gravity's off-road performance up to 11, while still being something you'd love to take the family in on a multi-day road trip, that could merit a Sapphire label. I don't think that's the only direction they could go with it, just one plausible option.

Gravity GT-not Saphire. Adds a couple hundred hp. Looks like they’re going after Cayenne customers that spend more.
 
Ultimately this was a smart move for Lucid at this point in time. To develop a proper Sapphire or Gravity X would have used extensive resources for very little potential extra sales of either model. This is all about getting some free advertising and press attention. Already seeing some online car mags with articles titled “Fastest three row SUV!” , “Faster than an Escalade V for $40K less”. A proper Rivian competition off-roader will have to wait for the upcoming midsized, which I have a feeling has a model being designed from ground up to be off road competitive (looks and capabilities.)

I agree... It's also a good PR move because these news feed the algorithms and this is what people see today when they search for Lucid Gravity

Looks like they have limited edition Sapphire Blue Gravity GT-s on display in monterey (and a Red Air Sapphire!). OK, that's pretty cool, I agree. Even if I'm not totally enamored with GT-S generally. I hope they offer other colors more broadly.

Very little, actually. It was all attachments, for the most part. It didn’t require a lot of technical uplift.

And it made a big splash as a concept.

Yeah, I just saw that email come through too. So they *can* paint it in blue, but you can't buy the GT-S in blue… that's such a strange choice. I would have loved to have had the option of getting a Dream Edition in blue, since all my other cars up to this point have also been blue. Ah well.

by calling it a 'limited edition' - doesn't that suggest that the color is available for a limited time? So I think if you express interest, they may contact you for an order. Pure speculation, but otherwise why call it 'limited edition' and show it?
 
I like the Sapphire in Red and hope it's offered more broadly. I think continuing a performance version of the Gravity using the Dream specs was good idea but surprised they didn't call it GT-P like with the Air. I think the S may be referencing their Sapphire branding but GT-S sounds like a Porsche and Sapphire should be reserved for the tri-motor.
