OOS (Out of Spec) initial review of their long term Gravity GT

I pissed Kyle off when I said that his East Coast edge race was longer than the LOTR extended edition trilogy so I won't comment other to say that I am a fan of his work and he does a very detailed job for the EV community
 
Looks like Lucid sent him a NEW Gravity OTA 3.6.4 which specifically addressed the DDPro hand free as well as key fob detection inside the car. Hmmm, timely.

Anyone else get 3.6.4 yet???

I'm sure that was a quick "Kyle" release of a work already in progress to fix the problems they could.
Likely it will be bundled with other fixes, properly tested and qualified, and released as 3.6.n in the future.
 
But I want this hands-free fix now!

I do wonder if this 3.6.4 fix actually fixed it for him, which would be promising. Just wish it could be tested and released quicker.

Heck, I live in Virginia.
I feel like driving down to NCCAR and giving him my car for a day!

On one hand I appreciate that they dont give the reviewers like Kyle / Jason the pristine models. That means they're getting accurate representation of some customers experiences both good and bad.

On the other hand, I wish they didn't have these problems so many many more folks would see Lucid as a viable alternative rather than that troubled luxury EV manufacturer.

Let's be honest most of the previous exec team was listed in a lawsuit of some sort for poor disclosure of issues...

As a new owner who missed out on all the "fun" of the earlier Gravity experience, it's been pretty solid with minor annoyances like Kyle mentioned. A couple more software fixes and build consistency improvements, and I'd say the daily-driver experience would be at par or better compared to many established brands.

I fully agree with him on the unrefined rear hatch latch sound and motion; mine is particularly loud and unreliable, with it failing to unlatch 20% of the time unless I give it a bit of a "manual assist" and apply some upward pressure with my hand while opening. I feel that it could be easily fixed with a software update to make it behave like the frunk (which is now flawless after 3.6.0).

That rear hatch strike plate can also need adjustment, mine did, you can see on the plastic part on the hatch latch there are scrape marks if its not setup properly...

Increasing the recall number seems like precisely the correct thing to do, then.

I can actually 100% guarantee you it is not. I’m advising / investing in his new company (still in stealth), so am very familiar with why he left Lucid, and the public reporting has been quite accurate.

Please don’t spread unsubstantiated rumors.

I see your appreciation of reviewers possibly not getting pristine models. However, I doubt that was the intent of leadership. Perhaps.

My Gravity hasn't been pristine, but it has been pretty much bug free. They do exist. I'd be showing my best!

Lucid is definitely showing how sw updates can "fix" the car. I'd prefer they show how sw updates can enhance the car.

I literally used the world “allegation”. I don’t disagree with the recall either, and do wonder if he’s getting scapegoated. But that would speculation too.

I see why you're less active now 🤣 🤣 😂. I hope they resolve all these amicably lol. It won't look good for either Emad or Lucid if they have to fight this in court. Wish the Best for him.

Lol nothing to do with any whistleblower allegations or lawsuits. I am simply busy af at DeepMind now. (We’re hiring, come be busy af with me!)

I don’t know Neil, the former contractor making the allegations and who filed the suit; time will tell, but it reads to me like a contractor who raised issues (which may not even be the same issues; the complaint doesn’t allege that, it just implies they might be the same due to happening roughly around the same time) was eventually let go, and he is suing for wrongful termination and retaliation against a whistleblower.

If those allegations are true, I hope Lucid pays up, as that is never okay.

Whether those allegations are true is another matter, and not one for me to decide; I am not on that jury.

That's good news. It's always good to be busy. I took a quick look at the opening, not sure I'm a perfect fit for any, but good to know.
