They really need to improve lease return programs to keep current Air drivers in a Lucid.. Attrition due to bad lease experience is unforgivable . One of my friends just gave up on leasing another Lucid after dealing with Bank of America $2k+ wear charges-- and his car looked very nice to me.

As a random counterexample, I just turned in my Air with $0 charges and a waived return fee despite having a door ding, a dent on the trunk, and a normal amount of paint chips and scratches. I assumed the situation had been resolved.

Thats good news. Was it a "pull-forward" lease into your gravity .. as I know that program would waive 1k in damage if you started a new lease early.

Nope, regularly scheduled return. The waived return fee was a “loyalty credit” for getting a Gravity at the same time.

I’m pretty sure the most recent sales figures showed Air sales dropping off a cliff. The Gravity is selling quite a bit more at this point I believe.

Just checked: according to Cox automotive, Q2 sales for the Air was 920 units, alongside 1811 Gravities. (Air sold 2630 Q2 2025)

No idea how reliable their numbers are; we should get the official numbers during that call in the beginning of August.
I wonder what Q3 sales will look like with all these 'deals' they are trying. I'm getting quite a few emails to 'trade up' and out of my 2023 Air AWD Pure (which I still absolutely love btw) to either a new 2026 Air or a Gravity. I see absolutely no reason to change to new Air (not enough changed and I couldn't get my Pure configuration any more today regardless). I guess it will be interesting to see what changes (if any) are in store for the Air in 2027. Right now I only see Tesla chargers as an 'emergency' situation with only being able to accept Bolt 50kWh speeds. Thankfully IOONA and others besides EA are out there for cross country trips that won't have the Tesla Supercharger limit. To me that would be the biggest enticement in general for someone considering upgrading to a new Air since nothing else really changed (other than taking away AWD from the Pure yet allowing more options for seat configuration and the Fan Air cooled seats like in my loaner 2026 touring right now.

I'm in a similar position.. I have a '23 Pure AWD and like it, but updates and improvements have been made since '23, and tweaks could be in store for the '27.. .. Bear in mind that you can also extend your lease up to 5 months at same rate and amortization.

I'm starting to get worried they're going to tell us they're ceasing Air production on the Q2 earnings call (August 4).

Would be strange for them to promise UX3 on Air and then decide to cease production a few months thereafter.

I feel like that isn’t in line with the uptick in Air availability over the past month or so

That would make them rely on the Gravity as only product for the next year.... That would be tough.... It would also tank resale on all of the Air returns hitting them. I don't think that is likely..

They could tighten things and simplify production by limiting to two drivetrains or some variation thereof.. Maybe consolidating Air models to just Pure and Touring... and add options to make them even better buys.. Does anybody have a breakdown of AIr sales by model over past year?

They did that with the AMA and the v2H and CCCv2 in the rewards store. Things have changed 🤷
V2H is stuck in regulatory hell; they have not said it isn't coming, but you'll note there are many manufacturers in the same position re: V2H.

The AMA was because the guy was let go; they should never have announced it. That's not exactly hard to figure out.

The CCCv2 in the rewards store was a miss; that was promised and undelivered.

Excuse my ignorance, what is "AMA" and who was let go?

Here today to see if anything is announced for 2027 models and looks like we are being kept in the dark until they are revealed. My 2024 lease is up next 7/2027 so looking for another EV. Be nice if they upped the range on the Pure or Touring. Kind of liked donfenn's the idea of of simplifying the process. Guess we will see. There are some other prospects out there for 2027, which do have info on them now that are enticing that do not have the Lucid name on them.

I started out wishfully hopeful that the 2027 Air might bring a few meaningful updates and perhaps some fresh color choices. But with the recent management changes and significant personnel cutbacks, I am less confident that Lucid will devote much energy to refreshing the existing Air platform.

It feels as though the company is in survival mode—trimming costs and putting its limited resources toward getting the newer products to market. I still hope they surprise us, because the Air remains a terrific car, but I have become more concerned about Lucid’s longer-term prospects.
I worry about the whole talk of BK and then the denial and then the Saudi Prince buys 19 million+ shares and then AlixPartners is supposed to help Lucid Motors with reorg efforts (actually this happened and then there was talk of BK as they also do that besides other stuff). Help me Mr. Wizard my head is spinning. Yes, one could call it "survival mode"!! Scary. How will this affect 2027 models?

It’s pretty clear Lucid is facing real challenges, but they are hardly alone—many automakers are struggling in the current market. Lucid has strongly denied the bankruptcy reports, issued an SEC statement disputing them, and reportedly retained counsel to explore action over the false reporting. The Saudi prince’s purchase of more than 19 million shares also does not exactly suggest that bankruptcy is imminent.

As for AlixPartners, restructuring and operational improvement are a large part of what they do; their involvement does not automatically mean a bankruptcy filing is coming.

That said, I love my Lucid. It has had a few software glitches, but it drives like a dream, and I will probably get another one. You have until July 2027, so there is no reason to go into “survival mode” now. A great deal can change between now and then, including what Lucid announces for the 2027 models.

For now, enjoy your car and see how things develop.
