Homelink He’ll!

I can confirm Homelink is a mess in the latest 3.6.0 release. It's even worse if you have multiple entries like a gate and a garage door.
- UI pop-up window is only tall enough for one item, so you have to swipe vertically to get to other entries, which can be easily mis-detected as a click and action on the wrong entry. Funny enough, in some cases pop-up is larger to list all entries, so they have the right code in there, just not used consistently.
- when you are lucky enough to see all entries in one list and you touch the one you want to open/close, randomly the action icon would appear on the adjacent entry and maybe also on the one you touched, it's a crapshoot. You may get one door/gate going or both, and not always the one you wanted.
- often touches are not immediately acted, even UI has no visual confirmation of the "click", so you think it didn't register and touch again, then apparently 2 actions are queued up and acted out over the next few seconds.

Lucid software continues to be a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get.... QA is still missing in action...
I don't know how much longer I can live with this half baked car, but I certainly no longer shy from telling people to stay away from Lucid, where previously I was trying to be optimistic.

P.S. Thanks for Infinity Shield recommendation, I wouldn't have known if it wasn't for Lucid's crappy Homelink which lead me to this post.
 
It’s also a small business, so I like supporting them. They’ve improved it since I bought mine, too.

My favorite part is it’s “simple.” It is just a couple wires, not “smart,” and just replaces the existing sensor directly (we actually still have ours up, just disconnected, because I was lazy).

Because of the ratgdo I also have installed, it handles the “smarts” and is the connected device, and the sensor does its simple job - it’s just a sensor. :)

As a result, I have literally never had it fail. It also has an audible beep (which you can turn off if you hate it) to let you know when something is in its beams, so I use it to know if I’m far enough into the garage for the door to close.

Basically, I recommend it highly. :)

Do you rest the bars on the floor?
Due to the quirkiness of my setup. I may have to raise a couple of inches, but not sure what tradeoffs I'm getting myself into.
 
Having lived with a very small garage, the beeping until you're clear of the sensor is worth the price of admission alone. Wish I'd known about this product back when I needed it.
 
I'd like to speak out against the MyQ product - this software is proprietary and wholly dependent on the garage door manufacturer's willingness to support it. If Chamberlain decides to shut down the service that runs MyQ then you're SoL. More realistically, if they decide to start charging 10c per button press, consumers will just have to eat it. It would be disastrous if vehicle manufacturers started eschewing Homelink in favor of whatever random proprietary standard each manufacturer comes up with.

There's nothing wrong with Homelink. It's very basic rolling code RF technology that is ubiquitous and independent. In this instance, it seems that the breakdown was with Lucid's interface into Homelink, not Homelink itself.

They should give you the updated version for free with the amount of business you’ve probably given them. 🙂

I have the Infinity Shield on both doors and it has saved us a couple of times from ham-boned moves.

I've turned off the beep on obstruction feature - Gravity's sound insulation is so good that it's hard to hear with the windows up. But I can easily see the blinking red LED on the Infinity Shield, and it's easy enough to stop the car when the light goes solid red.

Garage door sensors must be placed 4-6" from the floor to protect toddlers. If you want more comprehensive protection than that, for your car for example, Infinity Shield is the way to go. The device's sensing zone begins about 3.75" above the bottom of the sensing bars, so you could position the transmit and receive bars 2+" off the floor if you need to and still have legally compliant obstruction sensing. Check the length of the sensing arrays and the available height around your garage door hardware to make sure that garage door hardware won't block the top of the sensing zone as the door opens (3.5" below the top of the sensing bar).
 
Is it just me or do most people not wait until the garage door stops moving to drive in or out of the garage?
I certainly do. For what it’s worth, even our clicker that came with the garage door doesn’t work 100% of the time. I also learned long ago to never park the car half in and half out of the garage. I know there is a decent chance I’ll have to go into the house and “forget” about the dangerous situation I created and close the garage door out of habit. In those situations, I’ll actually block the safety sensors.

I read about the infinity shield a while ago but never got them. After the positive reviews in this forum, I just placed my order. Thanks @borski and @DeaneG.

Sounds like the clips sufficiently strong to hold the elevated bars -- against gravity.

On those Infinity Shield sensors - if your garage faces east or west, place the receiver array on the southern door jamb (with the receiving sensors facing north). That way, the sun won't be shining directly into the sensor array.

I just installed the Infinity Shield this past weekend and it works great! Thanks @borski for the initial recommendation. The instructions say left/right for the sensor/transmitter, but it works fine swapping them. I installed it resting on the floor.

Make sure to get the correct bracket size/offset! I’d recommend the short bracket unless you need the offset, such as your garage door having reinforcement bars or other protrusions that could trigger the sensors. Also, take into account track curvature at the top.

My garage door has reinforcement bars, so I needed medium brackets. I also had to jury rig a spacer at the top as those reinforcement bars interfered with the top-most sensors due to my garage door track curvature. Once past the top, the bars cleared the rest of the sensors. I must have a lower garage than most, where the top-most sensor edged into the track curvature ever so slightly.

I’m happy I no longer have to worry about closing the garage door on my Gravity and other cars when I leave the trunk open, or when I just partially drive in.

Back to the original post, I have never had a case of the Gravity activating my garage door without me directing it. There have been delays where I’ve pressed twice, with the second press closing the garage door after it started to open. However, I recently had a loaner and my garage clicker sometimes did the same thing. I also experience this in my other vehicles once in a while. I blame it on general interference of the radio waves.
