FWIW, this isn’t destructive, and goes away in a few minutes of not being directly in the sun. It doesn’t affect any features, as far as I can tell, so it seems they have redundancy as well.

I’d say it’s quite well designed, given that. Heat and light through the windshield is unavoidable. Handling that high heat and light seems like the right thing to do, which is what they seem to have done. It shuts off for thermal protection, and turns right back on when it’s cooled off.

this is normal if the camera is hot or the camera can not see anything because of sun or darkness, this is not only lucid , but many cars do this. I have another car called Deepal and it is giving the same error when the heat is 100 or more or when i am driving in complete darkness

This has been going on for me this summer after a recent windshield replacement. Didn't have it last 3 years of ownership and I've been in the same area. Also, while the camera fault may go away after parking under shade, the lane keep assist and front protection Amber symbols do not go away for me until the car is restarted. Thinking of taking is back to the studio cos this behavior only started after the windshield replacement.

Can anyone with this issue confirm that while the camera fault goes away, the lane keep assist and front collision alarm signs stay on in the dashboard?

For me, they do not. I do get the “front camera fault” if it’s been facing the sun, but it goes away after a few minutes of not being directly facing the sun and no warning lights remain.

It definitely does not require a reboot, so I think something might be up with your car. :(
 
As others have said, this is normal and happens all the time in a hot climate, it doesnt require a reboot, it will return to normal once the cabin is cooler.
 
Just happened to me yet again this week. 1.5 hrs in the sun at lunchtime (85ish degrees out). No camera fault, but LKA and forward collision warning yellow triangles never went away on my 1 hr-ish drive home. DD Pro did work (thankfully) as traffic was heavy (as usual)

No, you need service on it. I get the front camera error but it goes away. If yours has errors that persist then something is broke

So just to be clear...the CAMERA fault goes away..but two errors persist which are lane change alert and front collision stay amber lit even after camera fault clears. Is this not how your errors behave?

I too get the error. I had the front camera fault when in hot weather… mine does prevent my DDP (hands free lane keeping) from working. Today it even prevented the adaptive cruise control from starting. The system error cleared, but the “driver monitoring” light stays on. I did not have any other error lights, but lane keeping and cruise control would not work until I did a reboot. Then no error lights and the system works fine. And the system worked fine from the start this evening when the temp was lower.

Lucid should come up with a fix for this issue. It's obvious that the camera's that were spec'ed do not meet the temperature requirements of the function. I too had this issue pop up again and LKA and AEB were disabled the entire drive and only cleared once the vehicle was parked and "cooled down" in my garage. This problem has happened for each summer I have had the vehicle. Amazing that for a vehicle built in AZ and also sold in SA that the cameras for these features cannot function in high temperatures.

Couldn't agree more! I've only seen this car pop up those errors and nothing else I've ever known is so touchy about cameras...The more I own my 2023 Air the more disappointed I feel with the state of the software....
 
Even if the fault is unavoidable - at least let the camera restart automatically once cool enough. Or let us vent the windows remotely - combined with max cool it should cool the car enough quickly so can start the drive with it working.

I have tested by keeping AC on and venting AC to the windshield / defrost instead of front vents. This did not prevent the cameras from overheating. I believe the design with the camera sealed between the windshield and mirror doesn’t allow AC to cool the camera. Maybe an external shield/cover may help when parked outside in the summer sun.
