He doesn’t even mention that the R2 has only 400V architecture….and he says he is an engineer….how pathetic

 
You need to calm down on your anger towards Engineering Explained. He's doing a video on the Rivian R2. Why on earth would he be interested on bringing up Lucid?

That's not the focus of his video.

If there would be a need to bring up Lucid, it would be in a direct head-to-head video between a Lucid and a Rivian

Disagree, he doesn’t even mention it has 400V architecture and brushes over charging performance, while Porsche, Hyundai, Lucid have 800-900V. I’m sorry, his giggling about Rivian says a lot. And he is an “ engineer “…..pathetic….and he does mention that Lucid Air weighs the same despite being a sedan and is comparing to Lucid ….pathetic

Do I wish he mentioned the charging voltage? Sure, it'd be more comprehensive coverage. That doesn't mean he's required to obsess over 400V.

And there's a lot more to engineering than just electrical engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, etc.

I've watched the video and he discusses its use cases for regular everyday people and how people would interact with it. Those are considerations for Human Factors Engineering, and that's an engineering discipline.

It’s biased, hiding the deficiencies…..he talks about copper wiring length….why not the voltage? Because he clear ly doesn’t want to mention it…..all gaa gaa….very dishonest.

Correlation is not causation.

And on the topic of deficiencies, he did mention deficiencies. The lack of lidar, wheels/tyres, the slower charging speed, the tradeoff between cell chemistry choices and charging and their associated costs, etc.

He's an influencer \ content creator with an engineering background but not everyone cares for the nerd facts. I don't think many people give a damn nor care to know what the difference between 800v & 400v. Rivian is projected to produce and move 70,000 units on that architecture so it just goes to show what people really care about which is probably why he didn't bother with it.

Exactly. I would gladly obsess over discussing stampings, castings, forgings, extrusions, injection moldings, and other manufacturing details. That doesn't mean I have to tell every single person in the world about them. Nor would it mean people would find it interesting.

By continuing to post responses and reactions you're actually helping drive his engagement. Which when it comes to on-line content is all that matters. It's kind of like Las Vegas, the creators don't care if you like or dislike what they put out as long as you play.

This. He’s not a professor. You’re not taking a class. He doesn’t “owe” you an incredibly thorough treatment of the subject.

It’s just his engineering-informed opinion.
 
I enjoy his videos, find them helpful, and wouldn’t mind an R2 myself.

Crazy to think their Autonomy+ self driving is better than my DDP and included for free with the launch edition…

Guess why they are offering that, they don’t have LIDAR which is coming “ later this year”. Seems very disingenuous to say life time autonomy and release a product with autonomy tech that will be outdated in 6 months. But I can see how some people will be fooled and jump on it.
 
At 28 minutes and 8 seconds into the video he says:

"That is a 450 volt battery pack"
