Does anyone here have an extended warranty on their Lucid? Have you ever used it at a Lucid Service Center?

The day after I got my car back from service of replacement of HV battery and a litany of other items. (CCC v2 replacement of TCU mod) The car had major issues including not being able to recharge a ton of warnings and the cameras stopped working.

They are telling me that the camera issue and now the ADAS issue and some control board are not related to the original repair somehow and are blaming water intrusion for a front camera failure and the control module.

So I told them they could use my Extended warranty. Now my warranty is Fidelity... THE BEST IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. They pay and are even willing to pay the service center directly with CC prior to repairs.

I am so pissed right now.... The service center is saying that they will not accept extended warranty companies AT ALL for repairs.... Sounds like they are trying to hide something because Extended warranty companies require proof and cause of failure prior to payment and wont allow Lucid to overcharge for parts or labor.

Not sure if this is what is going on.... But I am mad....

If Lucid doesnt accept warranty companies.... This could easily spell doom for resale value for all of you owners....

If you have a 2022 you better sell it quick!

Just a question to add.... Has anyone found a service center that isnt Lucid?? Like a general EV Service center?

It’s terrible Fidelity allowed the purchase of an extended warranty for your Lucid when Lucid isn’t participating. Can you get your money back since there is no way for you to use it?

Extended warranties are typically honored only at specific participating service centers, usually associated with the dealership where the warranty was purchased.

Yes I can cancel for sure.... However I sold it to myself... haha ((I sell warranties)) They will pay the repair to me and they will pay the service center directly with a CC over the phone or they will send them payment... But Lucid wont accept direct pay.

Also Lucid will not acknowledge that the failure that I am having now might be tied to the repair they JUST DID....

I also just learned that Lucid does not allow third party repair facilities to purchase parts for repair...

This is what you get when you DONT ALLOW DEALERSHIP FOLKS.... Lucid holds the cards... and the only place that you can get your car fixed is the place that is now holding my hostage...

Disappointing. for sure. @socktucker add this to your next rant.... Where do you buy a grease pen so I can write on the back window of my car.

Its very sad to see Lucid shooting themselves in the foot with owner experience. You were such an ecstatic owner initially and it seems to have gone only downhill from there with your service experiences.

While I can understand why Lucid wants to have a control over all repair and body work issues (via a handful of authorized body shops), I hope Lucid has the foresight to broaden their repair infrastructure over time. Otherwise, the lack of 3rd party services will cripple Lucid as it tries to ramp volume, especially with the mid-size market. It would be insane to expect owners to drive hours to bring their cars to Lucid's service centers and, even if the owners put up with it, the sheer volume will overwhelm Lucid.

I touched upon these issues in an earlier post, comparing Lucid vs Rivian service. I won't repeat here. I am NOT saying Rivian's service strategy is perfect, but I think they put more thoughts into it (e.g., enrolling Discount Tires, multiple body shops in large metro areas, etc.).

I have not had issues with third party extended warranties at both BMW and Mercedes dealerships. It can take a little longer to get some work approved, but in the end, the work gets approved and dealership completes work billing to warranty company.

I agree that with Lucid not offering an extended warranty of their own or honor third party ones, along with the train wreck that is their current service center situation, will cause resale to absolutely plummet.

This totally justifies my decision to lease and not purchase my Gravity. I guess the good news is that when my Gravity comes off lease and has a $75,000 cost to buy out, I am liable to be able instead to buy a similar used Gravity at that time for less than $45,000. Then I can use the $30,000 savings for future repairs.

no..... I LOVE MY CAR.... TRULY... I LOVE THE IDEA OF LUCID.... Truly..... I am let down by decisions that are made behind the scenes with stuff...

HOWEVER..... Here is an update... I just got a call from my service center. They are going to cover the repairs as "Goodwill" ... Thank you Tyler at Scottsdale Service Center.

So .... there you go.... resolved.... and perhaps due to this site.... who knows who reads these posts...

GLAD I AM SUPPORTING MEMBER.

What year is your car and how many miles on it?

The part of your first post that got my attention was: They are telling me that the camera issue and now the ADAS issue and some control board are not related to the original repair somehow and are blaming water intrusion for a front camera failure and the control module.

THAT is a problem. Because unless your vehicle was somehow damaged, water intrusion is likely the result of something designed poorly (see my posts about the charge port door motor failure) or not being sealed properly AT THE FACTORY. That by itself should make it a warranty issue. But, since you have an extended warranty already, I'm guessing you are out of the initial bumper-to-bumper warranty that would cover it. Is that the case?

I realize that this is a non-issue at this point since Lucid is covering it. It's questionable if they are doing it as "good will" or if they realized that it should actually be covered under a warranty claim. To clarify the situation, is Lucid not charging you for the repairs? Or is their definition of "good will" that they will use your extended warranty through Fidelity?

I'm a little confused by this. From Lucid's standpoint, this is just paid, out-of-warranty service. Why should they care WHO pays for it? It makes zero sense for them to balk at it in any way. What a stupid stand for them to take.

That said, in the future perhaps the warranty company would allow for you to pay out of pocket and then reimburse you so Lucid is none the wiser?

that is the only way it can be done....

I still left my .02 I just sent an email to Steve.... haha.... They need to change this. Who cares whos cc pays for the repair.

I am approaching the 50,000 mile limit on my warranty. Are there common issues those outside warranty have experienced? I am thinking about asking for a service appointment before an August trip that will pretty much exhaust my bumper to bumper warranty. I realize that the drivetrain warranty is longer.

I have been debating whether to sell my 2023 Lucid Air with 46,500 miles on it ( with dream drive pro) because the bumper to bumper warranty will expire soon. Was thinking of replacing with it with a 2023 or 2024 low mileage GT and taking the chance on the non-battery repairs ( or getting an extended warranty - until I read the above). Anyone have thoughts?

I wouldn’t own any luxury EV without an extended warranty.

Are you wanting a newer car for a specific reason or are you happy with your car and are just concerned about the mileage?

ICE cars have engine wear and tear where mileage really matters. For EV’s, you have battery degradation, but I’ve heard reports of EV’s with 500k miles on them.

Unless you have a specific reason for getting a newer car, I wouldn’t worry about trading in until it starts to develop costly problems.
