Hope the driver is ok - Lucid Gravity crashed into a toll booth in NH

This morning I was at a shop to have my new tires rebalanced.. and the guy at the shop first of all, thought it was me because he doesn't see any lucid vehicles come in there.. and b "read that that the fire started before the driver hit the tool booth". insane to think that is true, but if true would be an issue with the car itself.

its unfortunate to think this, but in all likelihood, this is probably driver error as accidents happen. The article linked above released the driver's name i believe. wonder if its someone here on the forum and would share their story to hear what happened.

The article seemingly specified the order of operations: “New Hampshire State Police closed northbound lanes on the busy road after the car hit the toll plaza and burst into flames.”

Crash, then fire, then closing of lanes.

Yeah for sure. I don’t believe the car burst into flames before hitting the booth for even one second. The article also mentioned that it was a gravity but that looks like an air to me. Therefore some fact checking on the reporters part maybe warranted.
 
So it was Eugene Mirman (Bobs Burgers)

He’s in the hospital-and I know this is hard to believe- the door handles failed to work and he was trapped in the burning car. They had to smash out the windows and drag him out of the fire.

Source? If the doors didn’t open, it is almost certainly because they were warped in such a way that wasn’t possible. They have a manual release on the inside, but if he was incapacitated, the window would have been the right call regardless. They also broke the back window to check for other occupants as well.

TMZ I we where I read that one but more is coming out now I guess. I’m curious what caused the accident, they said there’s been a bunch there.

That toll booth is awful. It regularly has crashes there.

Nowhere does it say anything about door handles. They pulled him out through the window because it was the fastest way to get him out.

And it confirms the order of operations; it did not burst into flames prior to the crash.

I'm not sure why Polish EVs would catch fire as often as Polish ICE cars. But, living with a native Pole, I can't say that I'm surprised. The anomalies abound.

@hmp10 I was recently involved in an accident where my Air was deemed a total loss. Were yours leased or financed by any chance? If so, how did you navigate the Total Loss and Actual Cash Value of the Air/Gravity. I see a clause in my lease contract for a GAP waiver, was that the case for yours? Did you have to contact anyone specifically at Lucid Financial or the titling company Bank of America uses?

Our cars were cash purchases. State Farm covered the costs to purchase cars of equivalent mileage and condition. In the case of the Air, that meant an identical Dream Edition except with almost 5,000 fewer miles. In the case of the Gravity Dream, which was only two months old with no equivalent used cars yet on the market, they paid almost the full cost of a new one just coming off the production line.

Since this thread is active again, that toll both seems to be on the way out. I’ve noticed that by electronic tolling sensors are going up on both sides.

That's good to hear. There are still quite a few standing in the NE, but the states are slowly removing them. They slow traffic and they're an accident waiting to happen.
