The only actual key I carry now is the mailbox key for our neighborhood cluster boxes. The house has keypads, and if it didn't I'd install them like I did for my parents' house. Way better. Can set up extra codes for friends, guests, housesitters, etc and just delete them when done.
Having owned Teslas for the past 3 years I haven’t carried a key of any type for that long and it’s been amazing. People who complain about PAAK are just afraid of change. You need to be willing to try it and if it’s implemented correctly, you’ll never want to go back to keys or key fobs.
Most biometric locks are battery. Craptons of them. Plus, most have physical key as backup.
Even the old school Schlage pushbutton entry lock that I use has a battery. Older ones were purely mechanical.
I've had maybe two power outages in the 30 years I've lived in San Diego that I didn't know of beforehand (and those are usually at night). Not something I feel I need to do much planning for.

Solar + home battery. NorCal PGE is terrible. I also hide keys or leave spares with nearby relatives
The keypad uses a battery. And I have my house key in the car if I end up really needing it.
In a not so distant future I hope to use my Gravity as an emergency power backup. We experience intermittent power outages due to fires or PSPS where I am in SoCal.

That's because you don't have any weather in San Diego. It's different in northern CA.
Mine use one 9V battery. I have a side door to the garage too so I added a keypad deadbolt to that one too. If the front door battery dies while we're out of town, the housesitter can get in the side door instead.
Well...I read that 3.6.2 come with a fob update so I'm thinking this is it
I think he was trying to say that the fob update isn’t a pre-requisite to get 3.6.2. The two updates are independent of each other.
