Connected Home Charger - Speed Decreasing on 100A Circuit

...Looks like mine is a 01. Is it worth installing or should I contact Lucid up front asking about new models?
It is a NACS model, or J1772?

Drove my Gravity to my Vacation home where I have a Tesla gen-1 charger at 72A(highest that works on Gravity). I also have a Lucid NACS charger at 80A.

I started with the Lucid charger with the car at 14% charge. Got 19kW, but later dropped to 16kW & 14kW. It didn’t finish charging but got the stopped charging message continuously. I switched to the Tesla charger, which started at 17kW, but dropped to 14kW and then 12kW. See sequential screen shots below. First is Lucid charger, then Stooped Charging Messages, then Tesla charger. You can see the time at top of screen:

I installed a newer NACS LCHC on an 100A breaker and it worked fine but it does slow down rather quickly but seems to stay at 11kW up to 80% on my Gravity.
I had a most recent J1772 LCHC unit installed at a second home and it was set to 80 amps on a 100A breaker and it would start and stop but not successfully charge. What a member of the Charging team told me this month was that it was a known issue and that if I altered the dip switches to set at 72A inside the LCHC it should work and it surprisingly worked perfectly.
NOW TAKE THIS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT: He said that an update is being tested for the LCHC that should fix this ant that it should be released at the end of June or early July. This update will be OTA and the charger will flash orange when it is occurring. The person that I was speaking to seemed very knowledgeable and was very responsive and helpful. WE WILL SEE. He also claimes that the LCHC are all equally up-gradable and there is no need for a unit swap unless the unit has a hardware malfunction. The LCHC does have logs internally that can be found by logging into the charger.. http or for me -- https://192.168.5.1, this worked. my model number is P11-Y25901-03. Hope this is helpful

I have the same throttling down issue with my Lucid Home Charger. It isn’t as bad as it was. Lucid engineering told me to open the breaker to the charger, wait 30 seconds, then close the breaker. This allows the charger to reboot and check for a firmware update. There have been some, so they told me.

Your home connected charger needs to be connected to your WiFi to receive an over the air update. It doesn’t require the breaker to be turned on or off. They told me they haven’t done one in years but they are beta testing the update as of a couple weeks ago

Update:
I received my replacement LCHC, the -03 J1772 model, and installed it this past Saturday. Since it was a switch out, I ended up completing the process myself. I ended up having to run out to Home Depot to get a new lug for the L2 cable as the one there was missing a small chunk of one of the corners. I have no idea why my electrician would have used and provided that lug when it was installed, but since this issue was not isolated to me, I assume it has nothing to do with the charging issue.

Anyway, the installation in the oppressive Florida humidity went well after I installed the new lug, and I was able to charge my AT from 50-80% at a sustained 80.5 amps. I also noticed that the updated web interface for the charger is much faster to load current charging information and updates throughout the charge. The -03 charger also seems to have a slightly thinner/softer sheathing around the charging cable than my -02 unit, so hopefully there are no issues there.

If only I could submit my time to Lucid to take advantage of the $150 stipend to pay for installation…

Keep us posted on follow up charges.

Since i installed my lucid charger for the lucid gravity in December 2025 i have always had it throttle down charging and i though that was the lucid doing that automatically. Have 100 amps breaker and charger at full 80 amps. Get 19 kw when it starts till about 1 hr after which it slowly reduces. No hearing issue. Its a gradual slow down. I think its the cars modulating the energy like in dc charging

There is no need to throttle down charging unless going to 100% and then only the last few percentage points. When going to 80-90%, there should be no throttling.

Just completed my second charge (40-80%) with the new LCHC and it again worked as it should. Maintained 80.5 amps the entire time, except for the last 30 seconds. That’s the first time I just happened to be checking the charge right at the end, and it went down to about 55 amps, but pretty sure that is intentional so that it doesn’t overshoot the set percentage by being too fast. It’s odd that it was needed, but I’m happy that this seems to have fixed the issue and at least Lucid stood by the problem. Based on the time and the kWh delivered, it averaged 18.59 kW.

It seems pretty clear at this point that if you have the newest version of a Lucid home charger it works as it’s supposed to without any throttling. The issue is everyone else that has a non-Lucid branded charger.

But that is strange still. why do i have to have a lucid charger and cannot use the already existing chargers I do have..
I do have 6 x Zappi 22kw charger https://www.myenergi.com/gb/zappi/

That’s basically been the whole point of this long thread. You can use non-Lucid branded chargers, but ever since the software update two Mays ago there’s been throttling after 20-30 minutes into the charge session give or take.

The Air charges fine on my Grizzl-e, and the Gravity now charges at 70A - 75A on average, after having MPB replaced twice with firmware updates and system flushing...As I've stated before, the Gravity issue isn't a non Lucid branded charger issue, It's a combination of hardware, software and battery design...

I have a Lucid Home charger installed since 1 1/2 years. My car has been at a collision center for repairs for the past 3 months and I noticed yesterday that the Lucid White light is off. I checked the breaker and it is fine. Turned off the breaker and on again, but nothing happened. Any ideas what I should look for before calling an electrician?

Yeah..sorry.

I only tested with our zappi during the 3 day demo drive. And was not good feeling. Hopefully they fix it someday.

Ugh, now a new issue has popped up. I charged on Tuesday and after a bit, my current went down to 55-56 amps. I checked the current limit setting (on the app) and it was showing 55/55 amps, instead of 80/80. I checked the charger web portal and it was showing 55/80 being delivered. I unplugged and then started the charging session over, for the same thing to happen after a few minutes. When I was finished charging and I unplugged, the current limit selection in the car was showing 55/80, despite me never selecting that and it delivering 80 for the first portion of the charge. Further evidence that this is a car software issue.

And a partially related problem with the new charger: we are now having issues charging our BMW iX. It charges at 48 amps and has always consistently held that with the old charger. With the new version 3, each charging session has led to an issue where the car ultimately ends the session early because of a charging issue. The last charge was ended early at 73% instead of 80%, the one before at, I believe, 56%. I checked out the charging curve in the BMW app and I saw that it was holding the charge steady for a bit, and then it would cycle off and on, sometimes up to about 50 times, and then it would fail. The iX was set to unlimited current, so I changed the setting to 48 amps, and will check out what happens during its next charging session.

Photos show charging with version 2 versus version 3.

Thanks for keeping the thread alive. At this point we have to hope ux 3.0 does something on the software side.
