The US has built up tariff walls and most people here have no idea of the progress being made in the rest of the world. I hope the US companies have secret projects going on to stay competitive with the time we are buying with the tariff protections. If not, we’ll be the land of dinosaurs (quite literally, with the oil from that age) while the rest of the world moves on.

At least we’ve moved on to installing Tesla v4 chargers and putting in place 800+V stations (my weak attempt to stay on topic).

I agree the newer cars coming to market may indeed be slightly ahead of Lucid’s charging speed. Nothing significant from the graphs, although it will stop being a differentiator for Lucid.

The mega-charging, on the other hand, is a game changer.

Based on the real-world 350-mile test conducted by the presenters, here are the range findings for both electric SUVs:

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: The car covered 346 miles with 3% battery remaining. Extrapolating this to 0%, the estimated maximum real-world range is 356 miles (18:27 - 18:49).

BMW iX3: The car finished the same 346-mile journey with 7% battery remaining. Using the same extrapolation method, the estimated maximum real-world range is 372 miles (19:07 - 19:26).

While the BMW iX3 technically achieved a higher maximum range, the presenters noted that the difference in the real world was much smaller than their official laboratory WLTP figures suggested (19:11 - 19:17).

The Gemini button is right there on the video controls. It's great. Gemini just appeared in our XC40 EV as the voice assistant, a very welcome upgrade.
I'm looking forward to a similar comparison test that includes the EX60. EU deliveries are beginning this month.

The TLDR Points:
  • GLC wins for most drivers.
  • 0-60 mph: GLC 4.1 sec, BMW 4.6 sec.
  • Efficiency: GLC 3.3 miles/kWh, BMW 3.1 miles/ kWh.
  • 10% - 80% charge time: GLC 28 minutes, BMW 42 minutes. This seems very slow, may be station limited?
  • Range was compatible in the configuration tested. GLC was 9.4% short of official WLTP range (356 vs. 393 miles), BMW was 18% short of WLP range (372 vs. 448 miles).
  • BMW has a bigger battery, and comes with a 500 mile version.
  • GLC is more comfortable with air suspension, quieter interior, and more luxury.
  • BMW is sportier, flat on curves, a bit spartan.
  • GLC has more storage (10 carry-ons vs 8)
I’ll keep my Gravity - blows away those stats 🤣. Yeah, I know, the Gravity costs a lot more, too, and is in a bigger class (3 row vs. 2).

It will be interesting to compare to the Cosmos when it comes out.

If I didn't know any better I would think that both GLC and ix3 are less efficient than a much larger Lucid Gravity. Why are we even talking about them?

Their charging speed was supposed to be excellent. Turns out to be just pretty good.

Do those cars retain 95% battery health after a 100K miles and do the batteries outlast the car? I'll take long term reliability any day over a few less minutes of charge time.

I am not sure, because those are new cars with new batterie tech etc ;)
So no one knows yet. And SoH is depening much on how you charge, if you do AC or DC charging.
