2025 Lucid Air GT
I was hit hard in the right rear quarter wheel well area and was able to drive to a Lucid Service center/studio in Rutherford NJ about 10 miles away with multiple super annoying warnings of inoperability on brake, stability systems etc. The impact appears to have damaged the axel, as the wheel is askew. I was moving about 40 mph in the middle lane in very heavy traffic just south of the GW Bridge and was hit hard enough to push me forward. The car behind me was sideswiped and had body damage and lost the exterior mirror on the passenger side. The car that hit me lost its left front wheel. We were all able to pull to the breakdown lane with not much space between us and moving traffic in what may be one of the busiest traffic areas in the country on a Thursday afternoon in late June. NJ State Police trooper recorded the accident and was as helpful as he could be under the circumstances but I do not know if he cited the errant driver. Have not gotten the car to a Lucid approved body shop yet as the accident occurred a few days ago and the shop is 300 miles away. My assumption is that repairs, if it is repairable will be more than the ACV of the car so it may be totaled. Next step if totaled is to find a replacement from a Lucid studio. Probably a low mileage 2025 if I can find an AGT with DDPro in a color combination I can live with. Aside from the usual inquiry items like any repairs, Lucid maintenance file, etc. what should I be considering? I believe that the 2025 AGT had most of the features on my 2023 AGT but please correct me if I am wrong. It definitely had a number of improvements that are not trivial. Not sure if DD Pro was included, for example. FWIW, driving a rented Genesis V70 SUV was like pushing a cement mixer 350 miles through heavy rain and traffic on I 95. It reminded me of just how amazing the AGT is. The Pure was very nice and got in the high 4's. The lower weight was quite noticeable.

I have to document my appreciation for the service person at Rutherford Lucid for giving me a Pure loaner late on a Thursday afternoon to get to my father's funeral the next morning in RI and for allowing me to keep my damaged car there until it can be transported to VA. His concern and accommodation were not unlike what I have experienced from Lucid since I bought my car in Oct 2022. In every instance Lucid staff have extended themselves to help me. No doubt some have had unpleasant experiences with service but this is an example the you all should know about.

Of course all of this is very disappointing, as I love my AGT and planned to keep it and may well still if it is deemed reparable. It is the first accident I have been subjected to and I have never caused one. At least my dog and I were not injured which is a major benefit of being in such a solid vehicle.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Glad you and your dog are safe. Thumbs-up to Lucid for their loaner so you can get to your father's funeral. Hope you will get a proper resolution on all that happened to you!

Wow so sorry to hear about all the adversity, but I truly admire your attitude during all of this. I hope everything else in this incident falls in your favor.

Oof, sorry to hear, and very happy you’re safe. Can I ask what you (and your dog) felt when the collision occurred? Just curious.

Either way, I hope it gets resolved quickly and you’re back on the road soon.

Thanks. We felt an entirely unexpected jolt forward. Good that we were moving because if we were going much slower or stopped it would have been more intense. Minimal rear quarter panel damage because the wheel took most of the impact.

Hi Victoryroad, this is Ed. I met you at the Stanley back in Oct. 2023. I'm so sorry to read about your misadventure. I hope all will be well with you and in due time your able to again have a blast with your GT

Another good example of why I'm really hoping they add some sort of Sentry-type feature with UX 3.0. I had a hard rear end hit into me in my old model 3 several years ago and it was key leverage when the other driver tried to straight up lie about what happened.

Agree about sentry feature. In this case the car that hit me was disabled and in the breakdown lane, as noted. He sideswiped the passenger side of the car behind me in the middle lane then still moving fast hit my right rear wheel. No question about fault. The NJSP accident report is not yet available on their portal and it will be interesting to see the trooper's narrative.

Glad you are okay.

There have been many reports here of people having unpleasant support experiences. It is great to see one like this one!

My rental car experience so far: The Genesis G70 SUV through enterprise was a forgettable experience. Nice looking vehicle but crude in its operation. My insurance company then arranged a car through GoRentals. It tried to get a GoRentals car for me at the Lucid location in NJ but fell back to Enterprise when GR did not produce. GR got me a 2024 MB 350 in pristine condition delivered to my house this morning, a couple of days later than promised. Very professional and responsive communication from their private client staff this week despite poor performance last week. I may have the MB for months depending on repair time. It is tolerable, although a crude device compared to my AGT. The engine is not smooth at all and the power delivery is annoying. It is striking how easy it is to use the AGT compared to the MB. It is a pity that more people do not know the difference between ICE and EVs. My experience with the car carrier was not good at all. I would avoid Nexus, an undisclosed broker, not a carrier.
