Is service overwhelmed?

Since I don't have a car yet however reading the threads on this forum I asked sales rep yesterday there are 2 mobile hub about 30 minutes away and service center about 1.5 h.
I asked the current lead time with service center for problems. He stated he just had a customer who waited 10 weeks until he got his car back.
In Germany however it is an issue to get a lucid loaner.. They use sixt car rentals and they give you a 'similar' car he stated for the time being..🙈

Is Torrance not considered part of LA?
The greater LA area, yes. It’s just probably a long miserable drive for some of the members on here. Much like for me if I have to go out and back to Costa Mesa on the 91.

This brought a question to mind...if they give you an ICE loaner, are you reimbursed for fuel?
My service agent told me that I should save my receipts for fuel. Which is great, but does that mean that they only do it for ICE loaners, but not for charging EVs? I just traded my Enterprise Audi Q5 SUV (awful, awful, awful) for a Rivian R1S. I'm really enjoying it, but it's not exactly an efficient car. :) I have it for 2-7 weeks for an annual maintenance and CCV2 upgrade, so I might have it a long time.

2-7 weeks to do a half day of work. Who on earth is making decisions inside Lucid like how is this possibly the best for the company?!?

Sucks your vehicle is out of commission but kinda cool you get to trial an R1S for an extended period.

In my mind: whats cheaper long term? Hire and train more techs, lease/build more service facilities and roll out more mobile units to provide faster service turnaround
OR
Tons of rentals/loaners

Did someone do the math at Lucid and figure the latter was a better choice? Long term planning seems to be missing here. Just trying to put out fires left and right.

You should try out "Conserve Mode" in the R1S. Since there are different trains in the R1S, the instantiation differs. But you should see a noticeable gain in efficiency/mileage. Critics claim that FWD "Conserve Mode" make tire wear uneven. I haven't seen any noticeable differences as long as you rotate your tires. It won't get you to 3.0 mi/kWh on highways, but you should see a noticeable improvement.

Maybe the execs overestimated the reliability of the Gravity before launch. Or were told it would be more reliable than it turned out to be so they based service requirements on faulty data.

Or they assume early adopters will be more willing to suffer through a poorer service experience.

It's clear that Lucid shipped the Gravity before it was ready because they needed the cashflow and/or to show investors some kind of delivery numbers. This is no different than what Rivian and Tesla did. The stories from early production Model Ys makes me not very confident that the Cosmos will be as problem free as Lucid needs them to be to reduce the service demands.

Thank you. I was wondering why I was getting 2 mi/kWh. :)

Personally, I’m glad Lucid released the Gravity when they did. If it had been one month later, I’d be driving the discontinued Model X and crying because I didn’t have the Gravity.

I have a Gravity that has developed an annoying squeak in the front end plus I have a passenger window that refuses to go all the way up without auto coming down as well as a loose piece of trim. I called last Friday over a week ago. I was told some one would get back to me in 48 hours, so saterday or Monday. No call. I called Tuesday and got someone. They said service would reach out to me via text or email in the next day or so. Nothing.maybe service is overwhelmed with bigger problems? My car is drivable. Any suggestions?

I would capitalize the s in Saturday while also spelling it correctly, makes more of an impact to the readers. 😂

In all seriousness, their service departments are overwhelmed due to various reasons. The best you can do is get in the line and wait your turn as of right now. Their sales are suffering because of multiple reasons, one of the largest being bad service experiences which the internet is littered with stories about. No one wants to buy an expensive car and have an unresponsive and slow service experience. It's not what we paid for, unfortunately it is where we're at with this company. The new leadership will either get this fixed or it will be one of the main nails in the company's coffin. Time will tell, but the time is quickly running out IMO.

I just noticed my passenger window does this also! Funny quirk

I get the feeling the volume would go down if they were able to normalize the process. Meaning, being able to get in touch with someone, book service through the app, get a more definitive date, have your vehicle checked in only when it is going to be worked on, etc. That should make the 2 or 3 months wait less stressful and frustrating for owners with non critical issues.
