I highly recommend getting the DT/AT certs. You do not have to have bought the tires from them. I’ve never used it, but I’m glad I have it.

Thanks for this reminder! I had bought replacements from America Tires many years ago, and benefited from that program. I just looked at their www and it seems one has to get the cert within 30 days of buying a tire? I took delivery of my GGT in January, so that won't work for me until I burn through the stock skids.

BTW it was the Volvo / Polestar dealer that told me the stock P-Zero would have been repairable -- if I'd not used the repair goo that came with the car's included 12v compressor / repair kit.

Of course we trust them... :rolleyes:
 
I bought an EZSpare today. We travel in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan once every summer - it is not where you would want to have a flat. No cell service, many miles away from anywhere - it will make me feel a little better, just in case. Of course, getting a 23” tire is going to be REALLY hard to do.

I found this out the hard way on my Polestar 2 BST. And also, the tire opposite had enough wear that I had to replace both rears, for symmetry. On that car they were special Pirelli P-Zeros so the lesson was $1400 vs a couple hundred max for a flat repair / remount / balance.

Information that may help someone. If you have the tread depth of your existing tires measured accurately, Tire Rack will shave a new tire to that depth before shipping it out to you. You only need to replace one tire which will match the circumference of your existing tires.
 
Great thread - thanks for the info and details.
I've plugged a tire before but having a spare that fits in the sub-frunk space makes a lot more sense. Just in case.
I also like the idea of a couple small pieces of 2x6 board, to put under the jack. Again, thanks for the info!

I 2nd the recommendation of replacing the wrench that comes with jack with an actual socket wrench. I had the misfortune of having to use the spare and the wrench that comes with the jack is worthless. If I wouldn't have been traveling with @Adnillien, who had another jack, I would have been stuck. The 2 ton jack that came with the EV Sportline spare also struggled with my Air so I recommend getting a 3 ton. I haven't tested on the gravity yet but with my luck and tires, I need to.

I bought my spare tire and accessories used, and the person I bought the set from had purchased a Craftsman tire iron with more leverage, but had not anticipated the possible jack wrench problem.

One other thing to consider... My spare tire came with a two metric 'tonne' (not ton) jack. EU tonnes are 2,205 pounds, so a 2 'tonne' jack should be able to handle 4,409 pounds. Right or wrong, I figured that this was close enough to use, given the 4,952 pound curb weight of my 2023 Air Pure AWD and the fact that I'm raising the vehicle partially from the side. (The Touring should be about the same curb weight as my Pure AWD, with the Grand Touring considerably heavier, and the Pure RWD considerably lighter.)

Remember to NEVER GET YOURSELF (or any part of yourself you wish to keep) UNDER ANY PART OF A JACKED-UP VEHICLE.

I know this is the Gravity forum and I have an Air, but FWIW, last August in the Nevada heat, I picked up a nail and quickly lost pressure. Had to pull off the I-15 and in the 115 degree heat I used my Modern Spare kit and had zero issues with the included jack stand and the wrench. The toughest part of the whole process was lifting the Modern Spare kit out of the sub frunk and putting the OEM wheel/tire into the trunk ;)

Another point for me to remember is the Lucid Tire Kit is for the Air, which has much smaller tires than the Gravity.
Hence, I need to buy a bigger can of the sealant but haven't found a reputable seller yet.
The one I bought on Amazon "expired" 2 years ago.

I have no idea, but I believe so. Confirm with service though.
