As something to do while I am waiting on the Gravity media reviews and for Gravity to show up in the Seattle Studio, I started to wonder what was the third of the 3 Midsize models was that has been referenced by both Peter and the interm CEO.
Thus, there are a couple statements I would like to put forward for consideration and speculation:
1) The three models have been described as an in-town/commuter CUV, the other a off road focused crossover, and a departure from Lucid as we know it (can’t find exact quote now for some reason, anyone have it handy?).
2) Peter said in his Linked’in farewell post that he had signed off on the “advanced engineering phase” of two of the three midsize vehicles.

I am assuming that the “departure” midsize (DMid) is the same one Peter didn’t sign off on.

The core competencies and goals of Lucid Motors appear to be based off of car reviewer comments:
1) Packaging (space)
2) Handling
3) Efficiency (range)

My guess is either the much maligned minivan or a pickup truck. I can’t think of any other category of vehicle that isn’t commercial focused that might be against those tenants other than an off roader which they said they are building. Anyone else have an idea?

FYI I really hope it is a minivan! I want the practicality of those sliding doors and the ROOM inside.

Hoping for a roadster.

I am guessing it to be either a truck (Ford maverick size) or a shooting break/wagon for EU market.

I thought they said a Crossover, an SUV and some sort of off-roady thing?

@Bobby and @Amster why do you think roadster? Or is it literally a “hope” like my minivan?

@patriots328 I hadn’t thought of the EU market……hmmm.

So three votes for roadster/two door, 2 for pickup, and one for minivan.

Thanks guys for weighing in! (Kind of Gravity pun). 😉

Just a hope. As much as I love my Air, I really prefer driving smaller cars most of the time.

Likewise. I usually get a new car about every 5 yers or so. If Lucid will come out with a smaller midsize that has the same luxury, handling, and acceleration as my AGT then I will be first on line to put in my order.
The only exception that I would consider buying another Air is if they offer rear wheel steering on the Air which would make parking in tight spots much easier. Otherwise it is a smaller car for me in about 2 years.

The midsize will have less performance and less luxury. They don’t want to take away sales from the Gravity and Air.

I was hoping that Lucid would treat the midsized car the way BMW treats the 5 series: a basic model, a more upscale model with better interior options, and a lux model that includes the excellent interior, the power, the handling, etc. The price variant between a basic and the top of the line is huge.

I want a smaller car with power, handling and luxury. And I am willing to pay for it. Just give me the options. I basically want to be able to upgrade the midsized so it is similar to the Air but smaller.

But, alas, I very much doubt that I am anywhere close to what the car will actually be.

I agree exactly with what Steveinarizona wants. I would also be wiling to pay a premium price for the above. If lucid decides to follow the BMW model, then I will put my order in right away. However, if Lucid comes out with what Batteryman thinks they will, then I am left with 2 choices. Either Lucid offers rear wheel steering on the Air as it does on the Gravity then I will consider another Air, if not then I will consider the "neaue klasse" small BMW sedan that should be out in about 2 years. Or whatever other manufacturers have to offer. Not sure why Batteryman thinks it will take away sales from the Air. If Lucid charges near the same price for a top of the line smaller model as they do for the Air, then it does not matter if they cannibilize sales if they make the same profit margin. I'm sure there are others who think the same way as Steveinarizona and I do and prefer a smaller sedan with the same features, luxury, acceleration etc as the Air

Not two years the Neue Klass SUV is due in the fall of 2025 with sedan to follow in 2026. Though tariffs may scramble the time frame and/or availablity in the US. Initial build is at factory in Hungry, with German plant added in later as volume ramps up.

We have a rough idea of what all 3 cars will be. I posted this on another Midsize thread, no sedan unfortunately.

From Derek Jenkins: "About 90% of my work right now is on three vehicles that share one mid-size platform. One of the main new products is an on-road, urban-focused, driver-oriented CUV with Lucid’s core DNA of space, efficiency and range, and the pure joy of driving. The second is more of a rugged crossover with a capable, weekend/outdoor focus and the third is in the SUV category. That’s where we’ll have the biggest departure from what you know today as Lucid."

This part stands out for me:
"...and the third is in the SUV category. That’s where we’ll have the biggest departure from what you know today as Lucid."
Very exciting; I wonder what he means.

Peter has said many times that he does not see a case for an EV pickup truck…

That’s exactly what I want too! That said, slim chance that this is what’s behind Door #3!!

Not interested in the SUV. The sedan may possibly take 2 years. I don't trust timetables when it comes to new car introductions.
