I plugged in and the Lucid app sent me a notification to choose the station in the Lucid app, but then when I opened the Lucid app, it did not have a way to select the location, and said I had to authenticate at the station or with the station's app. I was able to use the Tesla app just fine...

I think you're spot on, the Rolling Resistance of a tire is the biggest effect, at least according to this seemingly insightful article. Often the difference is due to the big wheels having stickier tires than the small wheels...
