Lotus' type 132 was just unveiled as a SUV named "Eletre". I wonder how you guys think about its design language. Incidentally, I just saw a Lamborghini Urus for the first time in Carmel this past weekend. If nothing else, Eletre looks better than Urus in my eyes.

It looks okay but doesn't capture my attention, pass!

I honestly love this thing. Have already told my gf we can add it to the list when it hits the US.

No thanks, made in China. I had not realized Lotus is now Chinese owned.

Polestar/Volvo/Lotus are all owned by Geely. Is the Lotus actually manufactured in China? Polestar will be manufacturing in the US.

When you look at the design specs of the newly announced Lotus Eletre (373 miles on WLTP standard with a >100kWH battery pack and 800V charging system), it makes you appreciate what Lucid has been able to do with the Air bringing it to market years earlier, too. I wonder how the Gravity will compare with the Eletre.

It’s a safe bet that the Lotus will cost far more than a Dream as well. So when my wife says, “You spent how much for a car?” I can reply “Well, at least I didn’t buy a Lotus.”

That is incorrect. I actually placed a preorder today with Boardwalk Lotus, right now they have 3 models upcoming, 2 - 600 hp versions, and a 1000 hp version. The base model 600 hp is 90k, they don’t have pricing for the other 2 atm, but it will more likely be around a GT cost, not a dream.

Really? $90K for the base Lotus? Wow… I couldn’t find a suggested price anywhere. The Edmunds article said that pricing and availability haven’t been announced for US buyers, though the website says availability is 2023. Did Lotus require a deposit?

Edmunds article said the Lotus will be made in Wuhan.

Is there any picture showing Eletre's frunk? I am now suspicious that it may not have one at all.

Yes, he said he was on the phone with Lotus getting any information he can, and they told him they could say the base price will be “about 90k.” And yea, it was a 5k deposit through the dealer I mentioned above. I guess $2500 goes to Lotus and $2500 to the dealer, full refundable of course. And for reference, I am number 9 on the list at that dealer.

And the Geely group is owned by:

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd (ZGH), commonly known as Geely, is a Chinese multinational automotive company headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. The company is privately held by Chinese billionaire business magnate Li Shufu.

NOT BUYING ANY OF THESE BRANDS, I do however own a Volvo made several years ago.

Interesting design choices - the front end seems like a big source of drag.

Just a small precision, the current Polestar 2 is made in China. The Polestar 3 will be made in the US.

Lotus has confirmed the Eletre will be made in Wuhan, China. "Lifestyle" vehicles will be made in China i.e. crossovers and sedans.

Sports cars will be made in England.

It is my understanding that the US has a 25% tariff on Chinese made vehicles. Just as the Chinese have on American made vehicles.

In the UK they are saying under 100k GBP. That includes VAT. That usually means ~$100k in the US.

If it is to have a $90k base price my guess would be that it has to be made at the Geely/Volvo/Polestar factory in South Carolina.

I actually kinda like it... 😮. I don't know anything about Lotuses though. Is there a planned release for this already? Question will be if it comes before or after silver tourings :p

Lotus Eletre specs and pricing released. Power's great. Very customizable. Price is very high. Range is not. Seems to be more feature rich than the Polestar 3.
