Here's a new one, for me anyway. I was washing my car earlier and my rear license plate fell off when I lightly bumped it while cleaning my bumper. It appears as though the plate is attached to the car by the 4 round adhesive things you see in the picture I have attached.

The screw threads are in the adhesive thingies, which are glued to the license plate holder on the rear bumper. There are no threads in the plate holder itself. Seems like a poor design choice by Lucid. I now have a ticket open for my first mobile service visit and will be keeping my plate in the rear window for the time being.

I had this problem when I first tried to install my TX plates. The problem is that the threaded studs are screwed into the car and if you unscrew the mounting screws the stubs back out, a bad design. It looks like the plate is simple glued on, but it is not. Take the screws and the studs out then put the stubs back into the car. It is a PITA. The studs should be press fit not threaded.

I'll see if I can make that work tomorrow.
PM me if you need help. It's a tedious process to get it right. Really a poor design.

Can the studs be fastened better with a drop of super glue before they are re-inserted?

You can try that. I am not sure what the best glue is for the body plastic. I was going to try epoxy but finally got them to hold so haven't touched it!

Mine got loose, mobile service came and fixed it right up. Just let them do it

Look at the bright side, if you registered the plate with EZ pass with no transponder(something you can do in NY at least) then free tolls till fixed!

That's what I did. They put a new backplate and mount assembly on the car that I assume was a modified design. I remain puzzled how the original design got through to production.

The mobile service visit was completed today at my office. He attempted to fix the license plate holder, but one of the brass threads would not seat back into the bracket, so he replaced the whole thing. Nice and smooth. No issues. Arrived exactly at the time estimated over 3 hours earlier when he left Beverly Hills too. Good first mobile service visit.

Did you get Nestor, Gus or Kevin?!

Hi Neurio, your AGT and my Juno 🐻‍❄️ were delivered roughly about the same time. Just now putting on my permanent license plate my plate back is totally different than yours. Polar 🐼 speculates that when Juno 🐻‍❄️ went into LUCID service center for a ever so slight repaint on a “blemish” on trunk lid perhaps they changed it out ! Didn’t have a problem attaching the plate. Also at the same time LUCID replaced the wiring harness, fixed the loose front windshield trim as well as the side rocker panel trim. Polar 🐼 had a great service advisor and definitely have him in my contacts for future reference. Posted previously on the glass canopy heat issues HOWEVER when Juno 🐻‍❄️ was delivered back to me, the heat issue wasn’t noticeable and believe me Polar 🐼 is really sensitive to heat Lol 😆. Not sure if LUCID “did” anything as it mentioned to them. Thank you and every Lucid owner for your wonderful helpful advice and insights.

My plate holder looks like that too. What happened is that the threads got pulled out from the bracket and into those raised circles, which are just glued on. That apparently can happen if you overtighten the screws, so PSA: make your plate snug, but not tight. He also gave me longer screws to try to prevent this from happening again.

Thanks Neurio ! Btw did you ever get the license plate wrap for the front bumper ? Just received a DMV notice of approval for a license plate wrap in lieu of front metal license plate. Still waiting for the License Plate Wrap company to send Polar 🐼 his wrap.

No, I didn't. I was waiting for my black and yellow plate, which just came earlier this week (and it looks REALLY good on the matte grey, much better than the standard white one). I may just wait it out and try to go without one. Or not. Haven't decided yet. 🤷‍♂️

If you decide to use the front black and yellow plate you will need to drill into bumper. Waiting it out means at some point down the line some local PD on a slow day will decide to give out tickets for lack of front plate. Those fix it tickets are expensive AND time consuming and always appears at the most inopportune times ! Polar 🐼 sees lots of Tesla’s with no front plates.

I got the "wrap plate" in black for TX and it works and looks great.
