V2L Again

I've already got the car and I can't seem to find a 93-kWh battery for free 😜

I just want to use it when the power goes out, which is usually only once or twice a year. I wouldn't need the equivalent of over 6 Tesla powerwalls for that. The added benefit is that in a prolonged outage, it's possible for me to drive to an open DC charging station and come back with a "full tank".
All very true and your use case.

Sorry @socktucker
If you had socktuckers car would you be willing to do anything more or would you consider wtf and go fo it?

My use case is to add battery to save what I currently send away. And slowly add more solar. I want to go to about 32kw and only need a fast charger on a trip so all car power from solar

That's what I do, but it takes a lot of battery. I have 25kWh worth and in the summer peak, wish I had nearly twice that.

That's brilliant! If V2H was working, I would tell @socktucker to park that bad boy next to his solar AC inverter to use it as a battery while waiting for Lucid to take it back 🫠

@Aka-none Your point is well taken. A car is not a good use for time shifting electricity production and usage. But for people who don't drive everyday, I could see useful applications.

Ok Sock catchin strays in here!

V2H had become a conversation in the home so I called the company in the video. There tech said that they are aware of the video but nothing has been provided from a technical perspective of how it works.

So you can't buy it and officially have it supported...yet.

So… the same as Lucid?

What video and what company?

If I were sock, I'd be hitting up Uncle Rich to see if he wanted to help cajole Lucid into fixing the car, or watch Rich jankily try to fix it himself. Though sock may not be able to do that since he's trying to lemon the car.

I wouldn't get in a car that guy worked on. That guy is going to get electrocuted some day.

I drive the car sometimes, but the loose roof bow gets full of dirt and leaves and wind noise since now its loose on the top, forward middle section. I would also hate for it to fly off and hit something. It also started not detecting my fob randomly, but I need to change the batteries before I know if that's broken or not. My phone key still won't authentcate me to drive the car, only to open and start it...

If i took it to Rich he'd probably throw a couple wood screws through the roof and call it good!

Don't forget baby oil to loosen the things that are too tight!

And I think he plays up his persona quite a bit for the videos, he's got a lot of experience in the EV space and at one point help start the Electrified Garage (not sure if he's still the owner, or if he gave up on it.)

Internally, they’ve had it working for a long time.

“Does it work” is not the reason it is not released.

Sorry to be clear I'm asking if I can buy everything and it will work? Because it seems like the SigEnergy stuff does work but it's not officially advertised as working.

There is a lot of V2H equipment in that category. Far more than is actually available.

Ya know I like experimenting but I get hesitant as the voltage goes up

I agree and enjoy watching to a certain point. I mean, with his affection for lubricants, he could seal up @socktucker"s roof with a little vasoline!😂 But sometimes the "what if we just try this" can be a very bad idea. Especially with high voltage, high amperage situations...

Piggybacking on this thread because I wanted to ask if anyone has gotten *any* sort of V2L solution working using the Air's RangeExchange feature. I searched past threads and found a number of discussions about devices that can take a charge from a charging cable and output a 120V wall output, but didn't find any confirmation on anyone actually getting that to work.
