After buying back Jason Fenske's Lucid Air after a year of software issues (some self-induced), Lucid gave him a loaner Gravity to use through the end of 2026 until the Rivian R2 he ordered was delivered. Unfortunately, that Gravity, too, was plagued with many of the software gremlins we early owners experienced, and he turned the vehicle back over to Lucid after a week.

Fenske is saying he will now put the Lucid saga behind him and move on to other cars. Let's hope so.

I love our three Lucids (an Air Dream Performance and two Gravity Dream Editions), but Lucid will be paying the price a very long time for the premature release of the Gravity with its litany of early software woes. I support their decision 100% to delay the Cosmos release until it is fully squared away and pray they remain mindful that giving in to any pressure from any quarter for hastening the release will be the death knell of the company.

The cars are just too amazing on so many fronts to see the company fail over further software missteps.

prime real estate in this upcoming @gaskiller meltdown thread, PM me for rates and availability 😂

Idk why he had to take another shot at Lucid though, they bought his car back. The Gravity sucked as we know. Idk why he brought it up again. Lucid did right by him.

I'm pretty astonished that a) Lucid kept playing ball with this guy and b) they couldn't address the problems after they decided to keep playing ball! I mean sheesh give him some special influencer build with hotfixes or something if you're going to put your product in the limelight like that.

Love how he refuses to call it a Mustang. Ford's use of the name is my biggest problem with the Mach-E.

As I mentioned previously, software issues will be written across the Lucid tomb. Yet they remain unwilling to invest sufficiently in software; the car is no longer a mechanical achievement but should be software-driven for success, and Lucid lacks the resolve to pursue this. I believe Lucid has at most six to nine months to endure.

You'd think Lucid would have made sure they gave him a GOOD Gravity after the Air failure. Seems like the whole point of loaning him a Gravity for a year would be to prove his Air was just a rare lemon and that Lucid was still worthy.

But to then turn around and give him a lemon Gravity is just inexcusable. It's like they're TRYING to fail. If you're not gonna make sure the 2nd one is nearly perfect, why loan him one at all? 😣

Yeah, that was obviously their intention. Anyone can see.

Their intention is to get everyone a good Gravity, of course, but for this scenario I'd think they'd have made extra sure.

The alternative thought is even worse... that they're not even capable of telling if it's a good one or not. 😬

How does that make you feel - that Lucid immediately bought his Gravity back, while they told you to find a sharp stick and impale yourself? Get a social media following you giant loser. 😜

Quick sell your car before it becomes obsolete, I’ll give you $500 for it.

Give Jason about 6-8 months and he’ll be complaining about his Mach e as well. It’s what he does. Wash rinse repeat. He’s a smart guy but also knows what gets clicks. He’ll be on Ford soon enough

I got my GGT on a 3 year lease this May and have been extremely happy with it. Letting it do my highway driving and watching it change lanes while passing is just entertainingly awesome and I can't wait to try the FSD coming "soon". I've never felt DDS2 was unsafe or tenuous. If anything, it is very conservative which aligns with my driving habits.

One of the minor firmware updates introduced a condition on my driver's window that required 3 button pulls to get the window back up, but another minor update (hotfix?) fixed it 2-3 weeks later. So many great things about the GGT which make the negatives stick out more. Engineering of the HUD display and it's windshield sun reflections seems very poor unless you live somewhere there is no sunlight or just drive at night. I'm actually fabricating a reflection dampening cover that hopefully isn't too ugly to solve that issue. I'm surprised Lucid hasn't beaten me to the punch on that idea but their hands seem to be full.

Contacting service is another huge deficit (by the way, my Lucid app dies when trying to schedule service on it). After 4 weeks of trying, I finally have an appointment at the Houston Studio to address a rattle in my door or column. It sounds like a 2' long connecting rod that has inadequate dampening. I only hear it at low speeds (<20mph) but since the car is so quiet otherwise, it bugs me.

As a nice to have, I wish Lucid offered upgraded floor mats as an after market option if not as original equipment. I've always gotten thicker carpeted mats for my previous cars but I've found no aftermarket manufacturers that are geared up for Lucid carpeted floor mats yet. For a luxury car, this seems like a no brainer.

I still fall in the "happy customer" category though and glad I tried Lucid as my first EV even though the 3 year lease is my escape hatch if Lucid fails.

From his video, I think it's already started.

He took a huge step down in comfort and handling. He sure knows his fine vehicles. My mach-e has served it's purpose, but it's hard to drive after the Lucid. Ford made a great riding brick.

I bet if Silvio Napoli were the CEO back then he won’t make the mistake

I feel he is THR GUY FOR THE JOB

I too get more convinced every day that their survival is at serious risk. I only leased a Gravity for 24 months. Experiencing software issues and the inability of the service department to address these in any timely fashion (the staff is great, however they lack capacity and personnel), my car is mostly functional. In the meantime I dissuaded at least three friends from considering the lease of one. Not with my opinions, just with facts. I suggested they call customer support and see if they can get through to someone. The Gravity has awesome specs but the experience as a lessee makes it not worth it to me. After multiple BMWs and my experience with them they are worlds apart in stability, reliability, service access (BMW obviously far superior).

Check out the new Savage Geese video on then new i3, it’s a piece of crap…..there is no denying, Lucid engineering is the best in EV’s. Yeah, there are service issues, but that should sorted soon. Doesn’t matter what car you buy, you need to be within a reasonable distance of service.

Did is say Car is waste of my money? Please re read my message.
No but did you not say Lucid would be gone by the end of 2027? So you would be stuck with a fancy car with zero support not just difficult to get a schedule for. If they go down then where are you? It’s not a car that you can fix with one small toolbox. Heck you can’t even take the wheels off using the car’s toolbox.
